"I was on board as a consultant on the movie. I’m seeing the latest cut at the end of May, but I really liked the rough cut I saw in December. Stu Beattie wrote a killer screenplay. Marlon Wayans rocks. Ray Park owns Snake-Eyes. ‘Nuff said." --Larry Hama CBR News Interview posted June 3rd

Awaits "of course he'd say that" and "he needs his next Paramount paycheck" posts.
Same old same old... Is it so inconceivable that he may actually be telling the truth?

I understand that Hama was the main writter for the gi joe marvel comic and all but why do people act like this guy is a god or something, like him being a consultant or him cosigning or advocating ROC is going to make it any better or make people more accepting of the changes? Isnt he the same guy that ran wild with the whole ninja thing that so many of you fans didnt like? I personally think his opinions and comments or over valued. I apologize ahead of time,to the small and closed minded people who will be irate with my opinion on his holyness mr Hama.

The Conflict, when i think you couldn't go and do something dumber you go and do this.....
and totally redeem yourself! LOL. I've been saying the same thing since I joined this community. Thank you. Btw, I don't really think you were doing anything dumb, I just saw an opportunity to work in a "Dumb and Dumber" quote.

what he wrote can't be deemed absolute and unable to be deviated from if he never intended that, thus his opinion is relevant. should he be worshipped? of course not. but neither should his creations. Last edited by gunslingercbr; 07-17-2009 at 01:04 PM.. |

This news item is pretty old, been brung up before.
People get upset because Hama created the ARAH Joe (or at least the comic version of it) and the filecards. He created the personalities that most of us grew up with and loved. But at the end of the day, he's just a writer. It's cool that they brought him aboard as a consultant to make sure the movie had the "Joe vibe". But his word isn't gospel, what he wrote is gospel and as a writer who he is and the fiction he puts on paper can be two different things. When he says it's a good Joe movie, then that carries some weight because he's the one that created the "Joe vibe". But, and this is the important part, it's not like Joe was ever well thought out. He went issue by issue and retconned ALOT of it (I think the Firefly revelation was the only thing he had tried to plan long term and I don't even think that was really that long term planned, I don't think it was meant to be Firefly from the first mention of the Hard Master's death).

his opinions are held in the same regard as his contribution. I don't think you can applaud his work and then say his motivations that created it and how he views it is irrelevant.
