4th Quarter releases seemed weak. Coincidence?
Very little product made it to my area, what we wanted was gone right away (and not restocked) and you can only buy so many Destro's from Walmart. Good luck with buying GI Joe for Christmas presents if there is nothing on the shelf. My Target has been a joke. Walmart was not much better. Ross was my only reason for Joe Hunting. |

I'd be more interested to see the sales per line numbers. From what I've seen, Transformers doesn't move in huge numbers. They take up large amountsf shelf space that are pretty consistently full. Star Wars moves slightly better, but Joe is empty pegs.
I think one of the problems is movie lines that don't do so well. Iron Man 2? Oof. And like I said, that TF stuff isn't doing o well either.

Maybe because more and more Wal Marts are not carrying GI JOE figures. Also, they should have released Wave 2 Mechs, Wave 3 Joes and Wave 4 (if possible) before Christmas.
Missed the boat, hasbro!

this is a given, granted no movie-tie in's (2010 saw TF2, GI JOE) other than Iron Man 2, which had an early summer release date and never saw new waves through the holidays.
But like our pal said earlier, I'd love to see the line by line reports on product.

Can't buy it if stores don't have it. Walmarts and Targets in my area let their shelves get emptied before restocking, and then it would take approximately 3 weeks before the product would get to the store. I was an inventory manager for two separate major retailers, and I would rarely allow my shelves to become bare. Let me reiterate, can't buy it if the store(s) doesn't have it.

I actually would be more interested in PROFIT not sales. You sell a figure for $5, you make a lot of sales - but not as much profit as you do for $8 or so. Also, you make less product, yet sell almost as much in stores, more profit. Maybe some board member is trying to make a nice profit themselves on people panicking and selling stock?

Quarterly Earnings
Annual Reports Interesting note...Their Receivables jumped dramatically from 08-09 so that means their customers (WM/Target/etc) were paying Hasbro later. Without cash coming in, you can't pay the factory to make product. |
