I'm honestly rather jealous. I would love to see Hasbro license out the the G.I. Joe brand for similar purposes. Can you imagine the figures and vehicles from the canceled 1995 line being offered up for sale: Manimals, Replicators, Star Brigade, Battle Corps Rangers, Ninja Commandos? It's not like there's no precedent for Hasbro licensing out the brand to other companies for the purposes of making action figures (Sideshow, Loyal Subjects), after all. |

I sometimes think Hasbro has figured out a way to monetize the sorrow and disappointment of its fans and we just don't know about it yet.

Guys, we should all just be content that GI Joe lives on in really big action figures, really small action figures, vinyls, sneakers, shirts, pervvy anime statues, shitty movies, and everything other than the actual line itself.
Obviously there just isn’t enough interest in the toys to keep making them.

But why not, I wonder? Mattel has more or less wiped their hands of producing new MOTU toys, but they've licensed the brand out to other companies like Super 7, who are now releasing product in several different formats, including the modern, "Classics" style, the vintage style, and even a series of figures styled and sized to fit in amongst the original Kenner Star Wars figures and other, similar toys of that time like Clash of the Titans. Perhaps most interestingly, though, they're also now reproducing figure concepts from the "Powers of Greyskull" line that was canceled when the MOTU brand as a whole was canned back in 1987 or 1988, like this "He-Ro" character:

I also have to wonder.... if these are being sold for $13 and are like 1.25", does that mean if they ever make 1:18 Joe figures again they will be $39 each? Because for what these are it seems excessive to charge so much more than what Joes were last time they were at retail.

You're paying for the packaging, the licensing, and the retro/hipster factor on this type of stuff. If Hasbro makes GI Joe figures again, and they aren't 2-packs or something, they'll be the current market for their average figure...
