Sorry but... good. Do it. IDW is my least favorite comic company and it infuriates me what they've allowed to be the Joe franchise. For every good series, there is a dozen Joe book relaunches, cancellations and forgotten plot threads. Terrible management of the brand, and I've heard nothing good from anyone I trust.

I really hate to hear all of this. GI Joe andw TMNT are two of my top fandoms and IDW handles both very well (some mistakes aside.) It sucks how uncertain things are likely to get for both license because of this. If IDW sells, I at least hope whoever picks up GI Joe will hire Larry Hama as I really don't want his era to end just yet since the book is always entertaining. I've been reading IDW since they took over on Transformers way back when. I find this to be really sad news.

Other than ARAH, I think Joe has been really poorly handled by IDW for the last few years. They just haven’t seemed to know what to do with them since Cobra Civil War ended.

Don't understand all the logistics. All I care about is ARAH continuing. And I would like to see some other Joe stuff too. I am not sure how they handle other properties...but it does look like maybe they should have more of a streamlined amount of books that come out.

So they want IDW to sell out to a big media player that can make it easier for their properties to be converted to TV shows, so they can make more profit from said shows, especially through associated merchandise, video games, etc.
It's not the worst idea in the world, but it would also limit the ways in which IDW properties could come to life in TV or movies. The fear would be if they sold to a company Hasbro doesn't want to partner with (e.g., a competitor to Paramount), that could end the G.I. Joe license agreement.

Hope whoever picks up the license completes the hardcover ARAH comic collection/series.

First the club and maybe IDW next?
Good riddance to both of them. |
