Yeah, I figure that's a take that mirrors modern realities. These giant conglomerates are becoming like borderless nation states in many ways. And it would actually be insanely easy for a modern conglomerate to build an army. Just have a security company/PMC as a subsidiary, hire well-trained troops/"security advisers"/advanced equipment out to weaker nations and basically take control of those nations from the inside. Before you know it, a business entity has one of the largest, most advanced standing militaries in the world and it's spread out strategically across the globe.
