This is something I am considering but I have lots of plans for these in the future. They also are the same size as a gi joe backpack just so you know.
I understand this. The price of tooling is super expensive and I don't have a huge fan base or market that can guarantee me 10,000 + sales. So the prices have to be set so the tooling can be paid for, the money invested in prototypes, plus the price of the units. Then there is the whole thing of selling enough to get moving on the more exciting things in wave 2. Quote:
Yes I plan to add one or both to wave two. Right now you can build two, three, or more stories with no way for your figures to technically reach it.
Wave two will bring some exciting things. Two new walls are planned. A stand up computer, a catwalk, and several other accessories. Beyond that I have planned interior sliding blast doors, hanger doors, large entrance doors, turrets, chain link fences. Since I was a kid I have loved building sets, forts, legos, etc so to see these modular pieces available to build my own custom set is amazing. I've attached some photos of my small diorama I created using a model train landscape, world peacekeepers parts and a fake grass pad. I am in for the $250 building set you guys recently added on Smalljoes. I hope this is a success for you because I would love to add those additional pieces you listed off. I know this is pricey as others have said compared to other options but since you/your team seem to be funding this already you don't have the luxury of having that Kickstarter/crowdfunding money to lower the costs. Good luck and I cant wait to see what else you have in store! |

That's great news about the upcoming add ons.
I already see a communication bunker with antennas sticking out. Or a secret lab? I can use the PTE huts as barracks and these complex pieces can be the actual base headquarters. To me this is turning out to be one of the best 1/18 years ever. Even without any Joes.

Hi everyone, first post here. I have lurked for quite awhile on these boards but joined today to comment on these. I am also JLOJ on TFW2005 boards. Man these came out of nowhere it seems. I received an email from Smalljoes about them and was surprised.

Good luck and I cant wait to see what else you have in store! As for those talking about the price. I understand but it is comparable to the sail barge at that price, in terms of size and amount of plastic used. Also when the gundam chain bases came out I paid around $14 a set. Those were produced in large numbers and they were only one sided. You also couldn't build them the way you wanted. You had one option. They also did not have any paint applications. With the floor pack, you will pay $18 each for the buy 5 at once price. That's 2 floors per box plus connectors. So if you set them up as walls that's a double sided display spanning 1' long.

Are elevators and associated shafts on the long-term design board? I'm imagining a giant base that's only one cube deep built onto a bedroom wall like a giant sidescrolling videogame of old. Have the elevator cars able to stop at each floor using the same turning-key tab the Kenner Death Star playset used for its elevator platform.

Wow these look awesome Paul. I'll definitely be picking up a couple sets at least. I see that you mentioned filling in the gaps already I think a blank plate be fine or even something with an LED light would be really cool. Obviously cost would be the ultimate decider on something like that.

Really, all I can think of with these is either a Death Star playset, or the PIT. Either way it would be hella expensive.

These really look awesome, I want to get a set but it's going to probably be August or September before I can.
The price really isn't that bad, look at some similar items. For example the Star Wars themed "Space Walls" by Galactic Trading Post. |
