Well, I just looked up this word for spelling and found the definition...
"Bishōjo (美少女, literally "beautiful girl", also spelled bishoujo) is a Japanese term for a beautiful young girl, usually below young adult age. Bishōjo is not listed as a word in the prominent Japanese dictionary (Kōjien). A variant of the word, biyōjo (美幼女) refers to a beautiful girl before the age of adolescence." Umm... EEK!

美少女 is closer to beautiful teenage girl, which makes 美幼女 rather dodgy indeed.

I always thought the bishoujo stuff was a bit too otaku-pandering, and I've stayed away, but now that Scarlett's up for preorder, I might be all in with these three. It's funny because my wife remarked a while back, after seeing some sexy toy statues in a store, that she wouldn't blame me for wanting to have some in my collection.
I'm a big ARAH fan, and given Hasbro's output over the years, these three might be some of the best renditions of these characters in figure form. They also do seem a bit more aged-up, as bluesparrow mentioned, which is a relief. They don't look like adolescent girls to me; they just look like anime women in that stereotypical anime way. I saw the other Kotobuyika thread after it was shut down--man, what a train wreck. Cooler heads and mediating would have helped. Look, with stuff like this, people are gonna have many different opinions about it, and that's fine. The pearl clutching is understandable. But some of the reasoning I don't get--the idea that the 'seriousness' of the characters and franchise were being undermined. It's not like Koto changed the costumes or made them half nude or anything. Scarlett always wore a one-piece bathing suit/leotard combo, and Baroness always wore a slinky catsuit. That's probably been part of the appeal to dudes since the 80s. Look at Zarana's outfit if you want to see sexualized, or look at what Hasbro did with the 25th toy-version Lady Jaye; the first thing a friend noticed when he looked at my collection was the amount of cleavage Hasbro put on her. Joe fans/reviewers weren't outraged then. And don't get me started on how 'serious' this franchise is. The idea that sculpting the ladies in provocative poses is offensive...it's not like people weren't doing that 500-600 years ago during the Renaissance. Anyway, you like what you like and you hate what you hate. I'll order these if I can figure out where to put them. There's not much rhyme or reason to collecting any of this stuff. Scarlet looks great, I will probably pick these up as I have a few bishoujos already. The only problem is hiding them from my wife lol. Another plus side is Bishoujos tend to go up in price. Excited to see the Lady Jaye
