The nice thing about Marauder kickstarter campaigns is that they have pretty-consistent and relatively-small stretch goal strata (almost all stretch goals are $9,500 apart here) and what we often see from that is a lot more steady growth in the midterm period. As it is, we are seeing a new unlock every day so far (and several unlocks per day in some cases). That pace may very well slow down, but each time a relatively highly-desirable figure unlocks you often see a bump of thousands that same day. It's not like you see something squeak across the unlock goal and then the pledge total languishes (or goes DOWN) as I have seen in some other kickstarter campaigns. Something unlocks in Marauder kicks and the next thing you know you're a couple thousand or more toward the next stretch already.
Also, in this case, there may be some people who don't plan to back at all unless/until some particular figures unlock. I guarantee you some people were holding off until the basic Germans unlocked, and there are almost certainly people who won't back until Russians or Brits unlock. Once they do, they may back in a big way. So in some ways this kick is a lot like previous (and highly successful) MTF kickstarter campaigns and in others it's even more potentially alluring. This has potential to be very, VERY big. I don't think it will hit $500k, but I'd love to be proven wrong. Right now I think the color scheme of the Germans is a stumbling block that needs to be addressed. A lot of people probably expected to see movie and video game style German troops, and are hesitant to buy the 2-tone figures they are seeing. On the other hand, some history buffs are probably the type to back out if the Germans all get changed to all-gray clothing. I don't know what the best solution is, but MJ is going to have to make a decision about it soon and I expect that decision to have a not-insignificant financial impact on the campaign.

If someone really wants to help, they post Facebook ads. I understand they are dirt cheap.

Sounds like most folks want the late war color scheme, which is fine, but I hope somehow there's a way to deliver both or that the two-tone uniforms re-appear in a later expansion pack. They look cool and the potential to display both early years and later years uniforms is appealing, particularly if the two-tones were used all the way up to '42, which is more than half the length of the war.

Yep. Like I said previously, swap the webbing between the all-black and all-grey Germans, and you'd get the expected 'videogame German' (apologies, I am uncertain as for historical accuracy) and an SS trooper... albeit one of them needing to custom paint the head, and the Grey one needing painted boots. And both of them missing rifles, which is not a small problem considering these weapons won't be available for quite a while in the shop, I'd expect.
Barring adjustments to the grey and black German, you could move the German paratroopers up, since they don't seem to need new tooling, right? It's just a camo pattern? |

I think the best and easiest solution is to change the MP-44 and MG-42 gunners to matching trousers and tunics, and leave the rifleman and officer as-is. Then folks can pick and choose according to their preference.

This is epic. I mean, there is good. Then the level somewhere above that is this. I'll definitely be watching to see how this comes along. If the rest of these figures look this good I might be broke.

Here's a quick photoshop mock-up. I like him like this... but I kinda agree, now that I see this I don't mind the grey-green one as well. Variety is always good I suppose.

Also, I know feldgrau literally translates to “field-grey” but I’ve no complaint against the colour of the tunic shown with the German figures thus far (as Stalhelm has shown, there was quite a wide spectrum of official feldgrau, which apparently was ideally meant to be more of a grey-green than true grey). I would just prefer that the tunic and trousers were colour-matched for aesthetic reasons, same as I think the “steel pot” is more distinctive of WWII U.S. troops than the “tin hat.” |

I like historical accuracy but I prefer the multi-colored uniform. It breaks up the monotony so I hope they keep it. I suspect even history buffs won’t mind picking this up.
