With Steevy speaking of Disney/Hasbro license...did anyone watch “Toys that made us” on Star Wars? Kenner had a non-ending contract with Lucasfilm for SW at a 5% royalty as long as Lucasfilm profited $10,000 annually. Once the movies ended, Kenner let it lapse instead of just cuting a 10k check yearly. So they had to re-negotiate when Lucasfilm ramped up again in the early 90’s at 18%. In theory Hasbro could still have had that license at 5%.

If the D&D is based on the D&D cartoon it can be in the Hasbro Movie Universe. Also there is more evidence that D&D is in the Hasbro Movie Universe based on the fact it's before an untitled Hasbro Event Movie which means the D&D movie most likely will lead into that movie if it's the big team up movie.

Hasbro turned the board game Battleship into a movie. I don’t really think anything can be off the table.

The only way G.I. Joe will work as a franchise is if it's set up as a universe, acknowledging that there are many Joes spread across the globe that are fighting Cobra in a different climate. I would like it if Serpentor is eluded to as the big bad guy that will come later on in a film after a few good films are established.
That was my issue with the first two films was the small scope of which we were allowed to see this universe. It eliminated the possibility of seeing a re-envisioning of some of the more wacky vehicles and characters with wild uniforms because everything had to be made into what filmgoers have already seen (RoboCop, Stormship Troopers and Minority Report come to mind).

Hope it is a reboot,
I'd also appreciate something along the lines of Resolute for standard Joe designs |

honestly been thinking about this recently.
I kinda wonder if it would make sense to put some product out fall of 2019, Just to get Joes back on the selves immediately before the movie and to take advantage of the holiday season and potential trailer interest. Also based on the initial idea of POC for a smooth transition. basically actor likeness but not a direct tie-in to the movie. Original Jungle Duke for example Do environments not in the movie then do standard and whatever appears in the movie for that line. If that does well enough transition back to POC after the movie. It sounds like they are trying to wrap a story idea around shared universe concept and a release date.
I hope it works out.... |
