Marvel started with stand alone character movies with Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, etc.
Hasbro needs to play their Ace of Spades and start with a stand alone Snake Eyes movie. And yes, he should speak, but lose his voice in the climax. You could establish the SE/Storm Shadow mythos and build from there. Next up. The Rock reprise his role as Roadblock. Dump Tatum and cast a new Duke. I think a Scarlett stand alone movie could fare well. Wonder Woman did well where Batman versus Superman and Justice League have not.

first i will say i will support whatever movie they put out. with the time that will have gone by from the last one i would say this is going to be a reboot to better tie it in to the new universe. i hope its a stand alone movie but in the same universe as the other properties and not some tie in movie with a lot of cameo's from other lines. just have Hector Ramirez be the glue that holds everything together like in the toons. as long as they bring back The Rockblock and Adrianne Palicki (drooling) as L.J., i'll be happy lol
the toys, i'll get everything and maybe doubles of some. but please and i'm begging here, have some cool ass vehicles! this line was made as a vehicle line with figures to compliment them. i know its a price point issue vs sales but hey i can dream right. -steps off soap box- ok, now discuss amoungst yourselves |

I hope there is no origin story and it just starts in the middle of a massive invasion of cobra island. Many GI Joe cameos with each member sporting an outfit that is mostly representative of their original figure. Takes place in modern times but in its own universe without the world conflicts that we face today. Let part two have flashbacks into the origins. Have the Tommy, Snake, and Lonzo story take place in a made up war. Cobra Commander still was a used car salesman. Destro wears a mask that isn't melted to his face. Zartan is the leader of a gang of Aussie bikers. Then there are the Jugglers. There should be humor but the tone should really match that of the comic book and there should be a bunch of GI Joes instead of focusing on a small group the entire time. You can have character development through action. These are soldiers and they are at war. Cobra controls several Springfields, controls Sierra Gordo, and there are Terror Dromes around the world. But GI Joe has great vehicles and great soldiers to battle Cobra.

Define "large." If we're talking about the large cast of 100 or so characters that JOE came to be over the inital 12 year run, then yeah that's a large cast spanning many years.
An argument can be made the Original 13, plus Gens Flagg, Austin, C.C., the Baroness, Destro, Dr. Venmon and Kwinn are a large cast. However, if you're talking the JOEs with the most character development, you're talking out 6 or 7 out of 100 or so characters. No it doesn't. That's like saying Iron Man had to during Vietnam or Superman and Batman had to start in late '30's on the dawn of the Second World War. The only constant about G.I. JOE is he (or them,) are U.S. military responding to a global threat. And yes, the ARAH Hama mythos starts in the Vietnam war. I should have made sure that “ARAH” And “Hama” was in that sentence, my bad. I was making a statement that a lot of people have a problem with that. Which is why I suggested in an earlier post that we need to abandon that. The comics characters you mentioned have just gone on forever and no one cares. It’s comics. But because of the perceived realism of GI Joe, some Joe fans don’t like the the time flux and the characters not aging. Not me, but you see that posted here all the time. |

The G I Joes from the past 35 years were not a reboot of the original. The original G I Joes had no Duke, no Scarlet, no Snake Eyes..no Cobra either. G I Joe was completely re-inevented for the 1980's. It worked great for the 80's and 90's. Less in the new Millenium to the point of complete disinterest today. G I Joe will need a complete reboot if it is going to survive the newer generations of kids. |
