Can we please stop with the 'giant androids'. Thank you.

"Hama's take on GI JOE is much more realistic and grounded than any other version." - fans 10 years ago.
I get running out of ideas...but Dr. Venom becoming GI JOE's Norman Osborn or some other unkillable super villain...really? |

Killing off Snake-Eyes ruined the series for me. But damn if I didn't stop actively reading with the giant eyeball reveal. One day, ONE DAY GI Joe will return to at least comic goodness. One day....

I recall the Devil's Due forums littered with soooo many "This comic sucks... BRING BACK HAMA!" comments. Funny how things work out.
Personally I still like the book, even though it hasn't gone in directions I expected. I'm particularly glad Dr Venom is back, especially as his return has simultaneously rid us of the awful Dr Mindbender.

I see all the "the new female Snake-Eyes has generated fan interest" stuff.
... has it? Am I the only one not a fan of the legacy diversity? (Please note, my issue is not the starring or featuring of a female character, but replacing Snake-Eyes as they have.) |

So Fake-Eyes 2 is all over both of these titles?

While I still very much enjoy Hama's work, I do wonder if the title would benefit from more editorial involvement. Sometimes the story arcs feel anti-climatic, perhaps because Hama writes page-to-page rather than plotting things out. At some point Hama will retire and, if the book continues, perhaps he can remain on as the editor or creative consultant.

I think RAH goes on for as long as Hama wants to do it. I doubt it continues without him. Look at what failures the titles without him were. The last two years have not been very good. I am sick of hearing him talk about how he writes page to page. But I am thankful for have a RAH comic. The John Royle covers make it worth it. I do like how they brought DR Venom back. Female Snake Eyes blows and the other Snake Eyes is a non factor. I'm sick of ninjas. In the famous issue #21 Snake Eyes fought like 6 Red Ninjas. In the recent ssue with the female Snake Eyes it was like 50.

I will continue to read ARAH for as long as they print it, but my interest in it varies depending on the story arc. While there may be some short term interest in the Dawn Snake Eyes, I believe she and Sean (for whom there is no interest), are place holders until the real Snake Eyes gets back. Sick of him or not, there are reasons that he is the overall most popular Joe.
As for as DDP, I felt that some of their issues actually helped progress the Joe stories, whereas often times ARAH feels like it is going in circles. Plus Sean was much better as Kamakura than Fake Eyes. |
