You know BBTS is probably watching this thread. When the 7 packs goes up, they're gonna mark it up so high because they realise we want them so badly. Hey, they did it with these ROC figures and they're hitting retail everywhere. So what's the mark up gonna be?
I hinge my bet the Cobra Pack will go for around $60, and the Joe pack at $50. Yeah, I'm paranoid... |

I hinge my bet the Cobra Pack will go for around $60, and the Joe pack at $50. Yeah, I'm paranoid... I'm not sure where BBTS gets this reputation it seems to have here. Their markups aren't really any higher than any other e-tailer (outside of perhaps HasbroToyShop but they get a pathetic amount of product and any "in demand" items sell out quickly), and I've found their customer service to be quite good. Further, most E-Tailers don't get the same "discount price" when buying their figures from Hasbro that the big box retailers get (The more you buy, the more you save, basically). Without that markup, they probably don't turn a profit. All that having been said, this particular set might be convenient, but it's probably unnecessary as I don't think it's going to be difficult to "hunt" for these. What amazes me though, is that apparently all these figures are supposed to be out before the end of July....that's mind-boggling. Last edited by Jmacq1; 07-01-2009 at 06:47 AM.. |

Why would you believe that? BBTS doesn't operate like Brian's Toys from what I've seen.

For the 7 packs, which are e-tailer exclusives, they'd be crazy not to mark up the Cobra packs, if it's any indication that we have threads of people salivating over these and saying they want to get multiples, me included. Don't take this the wrong way, I WANT it to be fairly priced. And easily available. The smart thing for Hasbro to do is to release 3 Cobra packs to every 1 Joe pack and I hope they understand this is the way they'll maximise profits. If it's a 1 to 1 ratio, we'll be seeing a lot of unwanted Joe packs later. Anyway, I'll just have to wait and see. It's just pure speculation on my part, but it's just a gut feeling... |

I must admit, their customer service is top notch. They really go beyond the call of duty to make sure you're happy. But to say they don't mark-up unfairly? Would you pay $15 for a ROC Eel? That's almost double retail.

I don't see them excessively marking up the Cobra pack. They're not going to base their orders and prices on message board whispering...they're more likely to base them on how well the last round of internet-exclusive 7-packs did. Which given that they're still available many places...wasn't horribly well. Yes, these will likely have a much higher demand, but business-wise the track record isn't there yet. Even if they DO mark up the Cobra pack, you'll be able to get it at a reasonable price if you buy it in a set with the Joe pack. Or in a case. If the markup is too high, then people will go elsewhere. If the markup is the same everywhere, then it's a moot point. Personally, I think people are drastically overestimating how well these packs are going to do...particularly if they're produced in the same numbers as the Extreme Conditions packs were. Unless they're an extremely limited production run, people are going to be able to get their Cobra packs. Last edited by Jmacq1; 07-01-2009 at 07:38 AM.. |

So... this has most likely been mentioned elsewhere, but Master Collectors magazine is advertising that the RoC will be available for order from their site on the Monday, the 6th. I don't know about the 7 packs, but I'd guess BBTS' orders will go live then as well.

Everything just went from preorder/sold out status to IN-STOCK!
I just grabbed a few figures I really wanted in case the assortment doesn't make it here or scalpers beat me to it, like Helix and the Ice Viper. |

Tempted to buy 'The Doctor' but think I'll wait until I see it at retail (which hopefully is soon).
