So epic^. I often dream I am in very similar situations as the kid in the bottom pic. Probably one of the top 10 best days of that kid's entire life!

Geez, back in the day when shit came in big boxes. That's unthinkable now. The parents couldn't fit that Flagg in their Prius. I could have fit a real aircraft carrier in the back of my mom's old Oldsmobile.

Children's Palace was always my favorite store too. The layout was just perfect and I don't remember them ever drastically changing it like Toys R Us did. Kiddie City was my third choice, because it had more of a warehouse feel to it. I'd have to climb on the shelves to reach the top rack of figures as a kid. there was another one that sprung up in the late 90's, Factory Toy Warehouse I think. I remember getting a lot of the 2000 stuff there. But it was an odd store. I think most of the times that I went in there, I was the only person in the store.
Only time I was ever at a Children's Palace was for a rave in a closed store that hadn't been used for anything else since. My mall had small stores like Toyco, Circus World, and later Family Toy Warehouse in a larger space. The latter was a decent store, I bought a bunch of Spawn and Total Chaos figures there. The TRU Express they had a few years back cut out leaving some unpaid bills. Quote:
I've seen many large toys at TRU working there the past six years, but it's mostly Playskool and Fisher Price stuff. During that time I've also learned that most people have no clue what the limit of their vehicle's cargo space is until they buy obviously large items there. Sooooo...
has anybody gone shopping? I went with my girls last Saturday. We had some gift cards to cash in on. The line took an hour and fifteen minutes to go through. We were joking that it's like going to Disneyland. The girls got a bunch of stuff and dad scored a "Guardians of the Galaxy" team pack. Groot is well sculpted as is Gamora. And I scored several "Thunderbirds are go" packs with the robot M.A.X. My store has been packed the past couple weekends and sales have not started yet. |

There's Robotech toys right next to the Joes in that pic... it really was the best time to be a kid.

Yeah, my local has signs saying the liquidation starts tomorrow, but damn near all the "good stuff" has been wiped out already. Marvel stuff I could understand because of the Infinity War release and the sale TRU was running the last week or two, but it's not just Marvel...video game consoles, Force FX Sabers, The big "collected set" of the Legendary Defender Voltron, and virtually anything that's got collector heat outside of Funkos is already basically gone save for the usual pegwarming stuff. It's kinda crazy.

True that "new" might not be the best term for Crossbones. Like Venom, he's a modern-era comic book creation, but 29 years is pretty old at this point. He's older than Deadpool.
With Star Wars, characters can sell on their looks alone, like Phasma. With comic book characters, usually it takes a little more interest in their character to make them sell. Hasbro did more of the post-2000 Marvel creations in the 3.75" line than the 6" line I think. They've been selective enough in 6" that their choices usually sell, like Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Fantomex, Anti-Venom and Spidey Noir, but maybe almost as many have been duds, like Nico Minoru, White Tiger, Kamala Khan, the female Beetle and Ex Nihilo. Most of the successful ones are really variant versions of main heroes rather than all-new characters. It's also worth noting that several of the characters that collectors themselves clamor for end up slow sellers: Polaris and Enchantress, for example, have both been high on peoples' lists for years now, and both still linger on pegs. |

I went to a Toys R us on the way home yesterday to pick up an early birthday present to myself. My Birthday is Saturday. Picked up a True Heroes sentinels Apache Helicopter for $22 and change.
So where can I find GI Joe Dragonfly sticker sheets? |
