More like farting into a pillow. Right before someone lays their head into it.

Well honestly I'm disappointed. Don't get me wrong I'm getting the set, and if I knew there would be a set coming in 2019, 2020, 2021, etc. I'd be more than happy with this set as is--but with this being (as best we know and by all indications) the final set and one of the final opportunities to get a lot of characters that will likely never get an M.E. release without the club this set is disappointing to me. If we were promised hundreds of more figures of course I would love to see all these variants updated but personally my top priority now is getting as many of the characters that have never seen a single version released in M.E. as possible and in this set the only one that fits that bill is Hardball (and I guess technically Sgt. Smasher--although that's mostly a technicality).
I was really expecting DEF vs Headhunters -- I would have been very happy with that. I would have been equally happy with a set involving the Plague. Star Brigade would be a distant 3rd but even that line up could have given us 6 never released in M.E. Joes (Payload, Countdown, Robo-Joe, Effects, Gears, Spaceshot) plus some solid Cobra's we've yet to see versions of (Blackstar, TARGET, Astro-Vipers, BAATs). I am glad to see that a lot of people are excited about this set. While I'm far from excited I'm also not going to hate on it because, yes, at the end of the day I suppose all of these figures would have eventually been something that would have made it to my want list (even though none of them, with the exception of Hardball would currently make my top 100 or even top 200 wanted). So while disappointed I'll still enjoy adding all these figures to my collection. I will say, however, I've been on the fence about going to JoeCon this year--I had a great time last year and I'd love to go this year--and fully planned to prior to them announcing it would be in Chattanooga--a location where you can't even get a flight to unless you live east of Chattanooga. That's presenting a major pain point when I'm thinking about coming all the way from L.A. (flying coast to coast from L.A. to Florida was way easier and cheaper and a shorter flight than trying to go L.A. to Chattanooga) Also with JoeCon being just a couple of weeks prior to SDCC (which I always attend and always spend way too much money at and need to take time away from work for) that has also been a check in the negative column. Despite these two factors the past few days I've been leaning towards the "trying to go despite it being in Chattanooga" direction. This theme/set being less than stellar in my eyes, however, has nudged me back a little in the opposite direction.

I'm not happy that the MIA Cobras will be extras just like their previous versions. I don't have any Laser Viper. I only got SAW Viper because Hasbro decided to make one. Quote:

More likely it will use the same body as Big Lob with a new head.

I still think there is a clue in the brochure that hints to another figure. I’m just not sure who.

I can’t see them using the Sgt Slaughter headsculpt. The rights would be for the likeness as well as the name.

DEF vs Headhunters seemed like a no brainer. However, I like this proposed set so far. I had just recently thought out some ideas for a customizing some Slaughter Marauder's figures...perhaps this new set will scratch that itch. Plus, those paint schemes on the vintage figures were some of my favorites. Frankly, if the club doesn't go the vintage paint route, I'm not sure I'll like the set.
Also, I can't hate on the Python Patrol either. My representation of that subset is strictly what was sold in the 25th line at retail (and the Croc Master figure from the 50th). The first convention Python Patrol set predates my interest in the ME and is way too expensive now. I'm not sure I'm very high on the character choices, but done well they might grow on me. I would love to see the Python Patrol trooper redone in the new trooper sculpt.
