Thinking about the whole copyright thing.
They avoided using Sgt Slaughter and used Sgt Smasher. OK makes sense. but then they used "Slaughter's Marauders" instead of Smasher's Marauders in the brochure. Isn't that pretty close to the same thing? and since they used Smasher, (Foreign Variant) are they playing with fire? I guess it depends on what the club Smasher looks like. Anyone want to take bets on whether Slaughter is a special guest? legalities, red tape... interesting situation to watch for sure. Quote:
ISgt Smasher better be Sgt Slaughter or the collective fandom will sh*t all over this....
Just a straight up repaint of the sdcc slaughter will be fine with me. To me Slaughter was never a muscular figure like he was depicted in the cartoon. Bad-as* yes, but never over muscular. The sdcc figure captures his softer build perfectly in my mind. Quote:
this set looks soooooo par for the course in terms of how the club does things. If you're pleased, congrats. If you're disappointed, that's completely understandable. If you're pissed, then I'm confused. It's the club. |

The hostage likely won't be Slaughter. None of the boxed set named figures appear to be direct reissues of things that have already been released through JoeCon/SDCC/FSS. It sounds like there will be a repainted Slaughter called Smasher, which makes it even less likely that the hostage would be a duplicate of that figure. So unless they mean Smasher is the hostage, it's another figure entirely and not Slaughter.
Here's hoping it's someone else we're missing from the '80s ARAH in Modern Era. |

It's funny that I finally broke down and bought an SDCC Slaughter today...LOL!
They better not just repaint the SDCC one. I hope they make Sgt Smasher different enough that I can display him with Slaughter.

So, if we're getting Major Bludd, the question is, will he have a new head sculpt and if so, will it be based on the old Python Patrol figure's, and if that's the case, will that head be re-used, for example as a regular Major Bludd in FSS, and what would that figure be based on?

Anyone have projected build for Sgt Smasher? I say tank top Ret RB torso and arms, 50th Gung-Ho legs, and an SDCC Sgt Slaughter head that was re sculpted to be slightly bigger so it won't look so small on that torso.
