I sell on Ebay to help feed my habit. I list my stuff at reasonable prices and it's the bidders that go crazy on it. That said, I would much rather sell on here than on Ebay.
However, given that I only want the Cobra Officer, I would rather pay $30 for him than pay $100 for the whole set. It just sucks that all the ones I see use Global Shipping for Canada and I refuse to buy from anyone using that service cause it is a total rip off.

The box alone is a worthy purchase in my opinion. It really is a good display piece. It's a shame someone can't satin or dull laminate the prices to preserve the integrity of the material. I'm fearful of ever assembling mine due to being in a damp basement.

I'd like to have an acrylic case made for mine, similar to what AFA does. I know some collecting companies online can make them for you with specific dimensions.

I think the fastest selling SDCC item was Sargent Slaughter. It was up for like 2 seconds I think? I was lucky to get 1 Missile Command yesterday. Instead of hitting F5 I had it in my wish list which had the add to cart option. Could you laminate the card board pieces?

I believe there's a Tanker who's made a business out of selling a plastic version of the Missile Command set.

Honestly, if I wanted the actual Missile Command Base, I would have gotten the plastic version. It would hold up much better. I've seen pics and it looks just like the Hasbro one but plastic. Really nice piece.

I did see a few sold at about $100 over HTS list. but that means one might make $40 after fees, HTS shipping, ebay shipping overages, making a box/finding a box of appropriate size if necessary.. Quote:
Things change after the HTS sale. Whatever HTS sells out of will go up in price, more sharply depending on how quick the sellout is. Whatever they don't sell out of will obviously no longer be worth selling on eBay. They're not sold out of Magic cards, Daredevil or movie Prime yet.
I do not buy new stuff on speculation because every time it just hasn't been worth it. The stuff I have made decent money on was parting out incomplete things that I've found very cheap at thrift.

Honestly, I'll never be able to figure out toy collectors and the secondary market. We do stupid things like complain about stuff costing too much at retail (Skystriker, Eaglehawk, etc) only to pay ridiculous sums for those very same items on ebay after they've left retail.
All I know is, eventually the CMC playset, like just about everything else (including the slow-selling Powerglide/Rattler set from last year) will be consistently worth more than now on the secondary market...or not. |

I had looked at it too and the only high prices like that looked like outliers. Most were closer to $200. I also put more weight on how an auction ended than buy-it-now. Someone could impatiently grab a buy-it-now but that's not a good sign of any price trend. You could buy a bunch of items and put them at unnaturally high BIN prices and maybe get lucky too.
