Rumors are circulating (rumors that have been verified by people in the know) that Kindle Worlds will soon close shop. It appears as though submissions will end very soon and that everything will be taken down around mid-June.
I urge G.I. Joe fans to go take advantage of these great stories while they are still available. Earlier today, I created a post with some titles that I think fans owe it to themselves to check out. Come mid-June, it is likely that you will be unable to acquire these stories, and there are some that you owe it to yourself to experience. Jim Beard, Justin Bell, Don Maue and I will be holding the final G.I. Joe Kindle Worlds Author Panel at JoeCon. There will be an exciting announcement during that panel, and you will have one final chance to hear from some of the authors whose works have been met with acclaim while Kindle Worlds was up and running. I urge everyone who is attending the convention to attend this panel. In the meantime, go scoop up some excellent G.I. Joe stories. You won't regret doing so. |

This is unfortunate. I was working on a Kindle Worlds novel--but I'll find some other way to make it fly.

I don't know if you know this, but Kindle Worlds appears to be closed. I just finished formatting my third GI Joe novel and was super excited to share it with everybody. I went to upload the manuscript and a message at the top of the screen states, "Kindle Worlds is now closed to new submissions." This is the end of an era. I loved the Kindle Worlds program and authors like Justin Bell and Bill Nedrow have made a name for themselves, among the Joe fans. If it wasn't for Kindle Worlds Stiletto may not even exist today.
Not sure what will happen next. Kindle Worlds had those sweet licensing deals that aloud authors to write stories in Hasbro's world. Now where will we publish without legal ramifications? |

I am honestly upset on your behalf. The fear that things would come to an end before I was able to submit something that I had worked so hard on kept me sitting at my keyboard far later into the night than I often planned or wanted. The experience that you just described was my greatest fear. I am so sorry it happened to you.

That is too bad! Kindle worlds was a great concept where anyone could write a story. It will be sad to see it go.
