Honestly, given the recent sculpt work, i think sticking with the vintage helmet might be for the best.

I think so too, I was honestly expecting them to reuse the Eco Flint helmet in brown.

Email/forum update from Brian on FSS6.0:
Hello Members: I hope you are having a great end of summer! We expect to receive the final carded samples any day now and we are still waiting on the ship date confirmation. We are still anticipating that the shipment will arrive here around the first of November. We are pushing the factory to get them out the door. Since this is a build-to-order system, it takes about five months for the products to arrive from China once we place the final order quantity. For those of you on the installment plan, currently we anticipate that the second installment payment will be a couple of weeks before Christmas and the final payment will be around the middle of February. We won't know (or set) the exact dates until we know the shipment is here. Thanks for your participation and support of these wonderful products.

GIJCC Staff said this on their forum, September 2017 Updates (9-14-2017):
“Let's see... we have seen final figures but not packaged samples of FSS 6.0. Remember that this is a build to order system and it takes about 6 months from when we start to when the products show up here. Still waiting on manufacturer to give final ship date but it looks like they should be here around the first of November... a couple weeks later than we had hoped originally. We ran into another Chinese holiday which is the first week in Oct. Trying to push them to get them on board ship (OBS) before the holiday.” -and- “We still plan to start the order period for FSS 7 in the late Fall so that the first FSS 7 figures ship just after the last month of the FSS 6 figures.” So that means that they intend to open up the website in Nov/Dec for FSS 7 orders, charging the first payment and processing fee at that time. There is still no word on when they will tell us which figures will be a part of FSS 7, which might mean that Hasbro hasn’t given final approval on the list yet, or maybe the manufacturer hasn’t determined if all tools are available to make them? That’s going to be a little rough financially for me or a few others, considering the second payment for FSS 6 will happen very close to the first payment for FSS 7, which will happen very close to Convention registration possibly? Maybe they will realize this and wait until a couple months after the holidays to open the convention registration. I believe that the reason the manufacturer won’t commit to a final ship date, is because they have serious doubts that it will get loaded on the ship prior to the Chinese holiday in the first week of October. That ought to throw a monkey wrench in the gears, and delay not only the arrival of the first two figures, but of the FSS 6 second payment installment, of the first FSS 7 order payment, pushing it close to the Convention registration, etc., etc…

That’s exactly right. Their backs are to the wall, and they have no extra time to spare.
To me, it appears that the GIJCC is optimistically planning to open the ordering period for the FSS 7 in Nov/Dec of 2017, so that hopefully they can mail out FSS 7-01 and 7-02 action figures in May of 2018? That makes me think that the FSS 8 order period will be online in May/June 2018, so that they can try to mail out the action figures 8-01 and 8-02 in November or December of 2018. As we’ve already seen with the Transformers FSS, if the transaction takes place during the calendar year of 2018, they are still allowed to receive and ship out the figures during 2019, even without the license to make any additional products. But what I don’t know is if they will require all payment in full for the FSS 8.0 order period, or will they still be able to collect installment payments well into the year 2019? I didn’t do the Transformers FSS, but maybe somebody who did do the final one can chime in and tell us if the Transformers Club continued to charge people in installments even after the license had lapsed at the end of that year?

This is wht I couldn't do 6.0. The lineup is a little weak to me, and the 7.0 sign up period made me make the choice to do 7.0 and maybe pickup the 3 or 4 6.0 figs I want.

Since their backs are to the wall, they'll have to ship out more than 2 figs a month to make it to the deadline, otherwise FSS 8 is going to spill over into 2019.
