In all honesty I like this lineup. Don't forget guys that they are giving us a new head on the 13th figure. I realize that's not a lot of new parts but three new heads (and two cloth pieces lmao!!) Aren't that bad. The price hike was greedy yes but I fear with no club we would lose modern Joes...

They have been making 400 loose sets for the con figures and the last time we knew the boxed amount was 2012 at 600. So one would assume they typically make about 1,000 of each FSS figure.
They need to involve the club members in voting on which figures get made next. They should be able to let us rank 25 figures from a list that they think they can put together and then that will give them wiggle room if some of our top 13 choices can't be built.

I laughed when I read their email.
They are so full of shit. They didn't sell nearly the amount they expected for obvious reasons and then try to play off the extension as doing members a huge favor. As we all already know it would be a hard time to find a company ran the way this one is. They are a complete & absurd joke. Quote:
I had to laugh as well. If the Club were really concerned about those who weren't able to grab a set due to monetary conflicts (ie - JoeCon), then the registration period should have either:
A) Been shared a lot sooner. B) Have been extended a long time ago. C) Shared during or after JoeCon. I can only imagine how many people scrambled to ensure they had the funds available, only to have a typical "WJAFAYA" response from the club. Quote:
They don't have this business model though. They want to crank out the easiest stuff they can for as cheap as they can. They're not worried what characters we want, just that they get paid. However, after the low subs for fss 6, I'm assuming low sales for this year's con sets, and I'm predicting the negative reaction towards the lackluster exclusives, it will be very interesting to see how the club moves ahead. We finally spoke with our wallets after all these years.

So much this. I'd be in for nearly any of the characters across the Joe mythos as long as the figures look cool and the parts just work. But lately I don't think they've done a good job making cool looking figures. There are about 4 figures in this lineup that I really like and plan to get my hands on, but the rest don't do much for me.

Fact is, someone could end up saving a lot of money if these full set overruns make it to the club store AFTER everything ships. I guarantee they'll sell out of whatever sets they make extra of if they keep it at the same price as it is now, they still include the 13th figure, AND someone could have them shipped all together, which would reduce a massive part of the cost which is currently $70 for one set.
Sorry, but, makes no sense. They're a business like any other business and they want their subscriptions and sales to go up. They've been on a pretty hot streak lately thanks to Pythona, Big Lob, Sky Patrol, the female trooper 3-pack, Ninja Force Scarlett, a very popular FSS 5.0, etc. We've been speaking with our wallets with lots of praise for a while now. They just laid a couple eggs with FSS 6.0 and the overloaded BAT con set. Every business has its ups and downs and bad decisions. They will naturally react and probably do better with next year's sets. |

I think they should get input but do it in a way that can get a decent representation from all aspects of the joe universe. If it was just a list of random characters then I could see figures getting picked just because they're ARAH and they'd be just as boring visually and unmemorable as the z-list ARAH crap they have in 6.0.
They should do categories like "Plague member", "2.0 or A-list variant", "international", "comic/cartoon character" etc. and then give us like 5-10 options for each category that they could make with existing parts. Set limits like only 3 new heads so we know we might not get the top picks from each list if they all require new heads. Obviously a good chunk of the categories should offer ARAH updates as that's what most fans want but I'd hate to see a sub of 12 z-list ARAH updates that were so boring visually that no one even remembers them. It could be done really well. We know the club likes international figures. Give us a list of 10 action force or whatever figures and let us choose. A recent trend is taking an expensive club figure and doing a new version for fans that missed out. Give us a list of 10 possibilities and let us choose. Do a category of all female characters (but don't then exclude females from the other lists). A category for just spy troops/VvV era characters. Do ARAH vehicle drivers and army builders, sub teams, etc etc. We could get a great sub with a diverse group that everyone could love. Start now and spread it out over the next 8 months to keep us all engaged. After character selection, let us vote on parts that could be used. It's really a no-brainer. They could have us all talking about this lineup for months rather than just the two weeks or so of reveals. Would fix all of our concerns about character selection and parts use. |

I bought in and got my subscriptions (though less than usual), but I definitely think it under scored for a variety of reasons:
The fact that there was a price hike AND a reduction in new tooling seems to be a really unfortunate combination. That's definitely a big factor. Timing was poor. While this isn't untypical there was very little notice--I think this honestly affects their sales every year. Of course we know an FSS is coming every year but the fact that we never really know when (can't put any faith in the club saying "soon" actually equaling soon) Thus we don't know until it goes live and then there is a short window to order--that always feels like a mistake to handle the information and ordering window this way. It's worse this year with that window beginning and ending right before JoeCon where a notable chunk of their customer base is saving up (either because they are going to the convention, or because they're going to be looking to buy the exclusive items on ebay). The character selection could have been better but I don't think it's as bad as some our saying and could have been drastically improved with just one or two swop outs. Slipping in a named ARAH cobra figure (like Crystal Ball or Overlord) alone would have made a big difference maker. Likewise swapping out one of the 80s vehicle drivers for an strong 80s carded figure (Fast Draw, Blizzard, Hardball, Backblast, Recoil, etc). Execution definitely seems lackluster on some of the figures which again circles back to there not being many new parts yet these being more expensive.
