i am one of those lost souls holding on to the Hama ARAH comic as my canon for all things joe to be , one day, included. i try to stay positive. bleeding cool.com just ran a list of the 6 best reads of 2016 and arah was #2. i am not, however, impressed with any of the companies involved idea of advertising. nobody promotes Larry's 35 year young ARAH comic, we jump at scraps dropped from the table, and we cancel the newest cartoon before the first episode airs. IF G.I. JOE IS GOING TO SURPRISE : We need a muli-media attack. 1) continue hama's Classic comic but promote it. 2) hasbro needs to give all it has to promoting new, creative toys and ensure that all toy stores will carry them including aisles at wal-mart and toys r us, etc (AGAIN< PROMOTION). 3) a well made daily cartoon series that deals with the same characters promoted in the toys and ONE comic with zero revamps and no renumbering. toys promoted and brain-washing little consumers to pick up the toys, watch the well-made but kid-friendly enough to ready them for the original and classic canon all else spins around; LARRY HAMA'S G.I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO. THIS YEAR IS THE 35'TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARAH TOYS, COMIC, AND COMMERCIALS SELLING COMICS AND NEW TOYS IN AN EXCITING MANNER.

In Michael Mercy's interview with Buzz Dixon Buzz echoed the sentiments of Larry Hama.
He never read ARAH, because he did not want it to influence what he wrote, just as Hama never watched and still has not watched the Sunbow series. I understand why a writer would take that stance but at the same time as a reader/consumer of GIJOE, I would want consistency. The Sunbow Marvel era was the first wave of division amongst ARAH fans. That division still exists to this day, we see it in many posts right here. I still remember missing GIJOE the MASS device and hearing about it on the playground and shaking my head in disbelief. That was not the GIJOE I read about at all. Then that Saturday the local station showed the the entire five parts at once. I still could not believe it. It worked though and I was a regular viewer for the entire run. I also read every comic. On subject, women have been stepping up to the plate in cinema for some time now as the lead hero role. Hasbro and Hama were ahead of the game as presenting them as equals. I know several women who emulate and are inspired by Scarlett, Cover Girl, Lady Jaye, and yes the Baroness. The Baroness did indeed inspire, she really was not the typical villain or hero. She was intelligent, wore glasses, was an excellent pilot, and was second in command in Cobra. I recall a panel at a con (wish I could remember which one) where a Baroness cosplayer went up to the mike and talked about how the Baroness had inspired her because she too wore glasses as a child and the Baroness showed her that she could be strong and achieve any goal she wanted. The Baroness gave her a role model and built her confidence. I am sure that was not an isolated incident.

Females in leadership roles is nothing really new for GI Joe, but maybe putting it under the microscope a little bit might just give the brand a boost. Who knows? |

I don't mind if it means we get good toys out of it! I'm still waiting on that perfect Scarlett figure.

The photographer got the same lousy eyed Lady Jay we all have. LOL. I wish someone put a little more pride into The Pulse, while those re-introductions are cool. None of those toys are available right now. They should be trying to sell / make sense of the 2016 figures.
Also, women aren't the only minority Hasbro has been shying away from. It would make sense to really broaden the horizon.
