The costumes are already out at Toys R Us. Wal-mart is notorious for putting toys out before the Street Date. I'd say it doesn't hurt to start looking. Too bad there's not all that much I'm interested in that's due July 11th.

I don't think Hasbro Customer Service is as knowledgeable about their product releases as some of these posts make them out to be.
That having been said, I'm sure plenty of RoC stuff will leak prior to the official release date, and maybe even we'll see the release date "bumped up" a day like they did for Transformers 2. Heck, I believe TF2 stuff started leaking about a month or so out...so we'd basically be due to start seeing it any day now. However, Transformers 2 is the number one reason I take this posting with a huge grain of salt: Hasbro certainly isn't going to launch RoC toys prior to TF2 getting released next week, and probably not for a couple weeks afterwards...which was why the original July 11th date made sense. It'll give TF2 a couple of weeks and some change to sell-through after the release of the movie before RoC hits shelves. Plus, with all -that- having been said, I've gotten no indications that July 11th is a hard "launch date" for retailers. In other words while they probably won't have stuff up before then...don't necessarily expect your retailers to "hop to it" and have G.I. Joe displays set up at midnight, etc.... I'd like to see that happen, but somehow I have a feeling this is going to be treated more like Iron Man or even Marvel Universe earlier this year: The resets happen when they happen, not so much a "BAM! Here they are!" sort of thing. I suppose I could see Hasbro thinking "Hey, Terminator: Salvation basically bombed....maybe we can squeeze them out of the toy aisles if we push our Joe product a little earlier." Which means we'd basically get what looks like "leaked" product up until July 11th when the retailers probably had their resets scheduled anyway. Last edited by Jmacq1; 06-17-2009 at 11:57 AM.. |

So what waves come in what month? When do the Target and Wal-Mart exclusives hit?

Or more importantly and to the point, do they even care?
They're going to do what they are going to do regardless of what Hasbro Customer Service says.

But, you are correct, if the box says 'due not put out until July 11th' then we are still at the mercy of the retailers. |

Her terminal may very well have said "June" on it...but that could just as easily have been a shipping date and not a release date. Or it could have been for a specific product (Say, MARS Trooper 3-packs). There are a bazillion different possibilities for miscommunication or misinterpretation involved here. On top of all that, if the release date had been abolished/moved up...you would think that Hasbro would find a way to communicate that to the fans. They've been talking about "July 11th" for a while now. It's not like it's that hard for them to launch a quickie press-release to let folks know to start looking. |

Hey look.. that annoying "Voice of Reason" has raised it's head again! Ain't no use getting all fired up about this, they will be on the shelves before the movie. That's all I need to know! Just go out and find your Best of 80's pack at Marshall's until then.

I've given up on Wal-Mart since they're decreasing their toy department and its cheaper elsewhere.
Target and Toys r' us are my only hopes!
