I don't think anyone can doubt Darryl DePriest's love for Joe. Secondly, G.I. Joe doesn't have an end date of 12/31/18, RAH does. The fact that RAH fans don't know the difference is the problem. RAH is not G.I. Joe, it's just one segment of it like Sigma 6 or Adventure Team.
Third, shareholders haven't lost interst in Joe, they simply want it to make money. RAH no longer does that, and so Hasbro is focused on creating the next version of Joe that will capture consumer's imagination the same way RAH did 35 years ago. That bares repeating -- 35 years ago. GI Joe will return in another way that is not RAH, or any other segment, they will create a new one, as they did with Sigma6, RAH and others. understood. thanks for the acclarations

Fun Publications will have to say goodbye to G.I. Joe, because Hasbro’s partner (Paramount Pictures) will be in temporary control of G.I. Joe. The only way that merchandise supporting the next film (the media they keep referring to) will even be compatible with what we collect now is if Hasbro agrees to it. It might or might not be action figures. It could even be sock puppets if that’s what Paramount wants.
The reason the recent Joe movies didn't do well IMHO is because they have no identity that is well defined. And it seems the more real world you go with the military side the less interesting it is. Of course this was true of the figures on pegs as well. Kids eyes were attracted to the hyperbolic uniforms and so evil it's sort of ridiculous bad guys. Everything sort of made sense and I think that 'thing' that 80's Joe had could be transposed to the present if Paramount/Hasbro weren't so afraid of sticking out there what always made Joe great. Even if on its face the concepts, uniforms and even stories seem like they wouldn't work with modern audiences I think they very much would if tweaked every so slightly. Obviously not in the direction of either of the recent movies, but still. |

Still don't know why they can't have a 5 POA Crap line for the kiddies and an online exclusive modern articulation line for the adult collector. The is no competition between the two. They could sell it only on Hasbro.com or a BBTS/ENTERTAINMENT EARTH EXCLUSIVE. I would never buy a5 POA for myself, but maybe for some kid I know who wanted it. It is certainly cheaper.

Last year at Con he bought a complete BUGG for his collection, so I don't think there's any doubt about his love.
From the Hasbro panel at last year's con, I felt this was the case. Why, in this day and age and economy, would a company pump funds into a dwindling line?

As it stands now we've already seen what an articulated line for collectors means in the market -- nothing. So why are we asking about getting an articulated collectors line when it's already failed multiple times? |

Call of Duty: ADVANCED WARFARE and INFINITE WARFARE basically ARE GI JOE. It's criminal that HASBRO continues to let EA games show them how to do a modern military franchise that is escapist and free of politics.

I can not believe I have no more G.I Joe to look forward to ever again, in fact I have nothing to look forward to now, Wolverine is dead, Star Wars has changed forever, Optimus is going to die, modern Marvel sucks, just why? I guess I can find new interests, but they will never fill the void.

There isn't a popularity of war games. COD is a staple video game, and many companies have tried to imitate it,but their failure reflects that there isn't a demand for war games but interest in COD. Even Battlefield has lost market relevance.
Secondly, you are assuming that COD players are the same players as Skylanders, Disney Infinity and the other toys to life games, and are interested in seeing those two concepts combined. You couldn't be more wrong about that, and attempting to combine those two entirely different segments would be disasterous. There is no evidence that COD players are even remotely interested in a toys to life component and want to buy toys to unlock parts of a shooter game. I don't think anyone can doubt Darryl DePriest's love for Joe. Secondly, G.I. Joe doesn't have an end date of 12/31/18, RAH does. The fact that RAH fans don't know the difference is the problem. I'm disappointed, but I hope whatever the new version of GI Joe is, the toys and figures are the same scale and articulation as POC/30th/Ret/50th figures. That way, there will be plenty of parts for customizers in the future. That is become a large part of the hobby for me.
