Well, it's already been on the West Coast before, so that statement isn't entirely accurate, but it's definitely been awhile. 2003 I believe, San Fran.

Which is ironic because the people who collect with the largest disposable incomes are here in California. Not a knock on the South and East Coast..merely a demographic fact. I do think that venues out here on the left coast tend to be more pricey, and this may be a factor in the club's decision making for JOECON locations. Orlando is a great location, but not cost effective for anyone east of the Mississippi. For the cost of airfare, lodging and Disney park tickets, I can buy every exclusive, take my kids to Disneyland and go to SDCC...and still pay less. The reason the club has pretty much the same attendees each year is for this fact alone. As much as I bash the club, I would probably attend if it were more convenient. Of course there are the benefits of building collector relationships at the CON, but I have quite a few of those here in CA and there isn't anything I can't attain here.

Man, just walked out of the Club session. The anger and nerd rage was palpable. Here is a rundown of what was announced/shared by the Club and DD:
GIJCC (Brian, Lanny and David Lane) -Heartwrencher (new head sculpt) with Dreadnok Ground Assault 4WD (Q4 2017) -2018 3 3/4" Club Membership figure will be Rock n Roll v2 (not a straight Concept Vault interpretation, but one more in line with the vintage) -2018 12" Club Membership figure will be a Black and White (grayscale) Army soldier -there will also be grayscale versions for Navy, Marines and Air Force -2018 3 3/4" Add on Set 3-pack will be the Cobra Night Stalkers (will include an African American female trooper) -FSS 7.0 will launch one month after 6.0 finishes with Crystal Ball and Extensive Enterprises Tomax, rest will be announced as they finalize -2018 Joe Con (The final one!!!) will be June 21-24 in Chattanooga, TN Hasbro (Deryl Depriest): -SDCC G.I. Joe exclusive will be the Cobra Missile Command HQ based on the vintage Sear's Exclusive (which we all found out about on iO9) -no retail presence for 2017 OR 2018 -next Joe line will be contingent on next "media" project (did not confirm it would be a movie) -will not license G.I. Joe because Hasbro has plans to relaunch/reimagine the brand; basically they will not make it a "legacy" brand like others -working on a G.I. Joe experience at Hascon, details will be provided in "two weeks" -no Joe exclusives at Hascon THIS year, but left it open for the future -there will be a G.I. Joe VIP Experience on the Friday of Hascon (keep in mind VIP tickets are $600 for this conference) It is what it is. Let's enjoy the next year with G.I. Joe as we know it!
