Aside from maybe the red backpacks, I like the Vipers. I also prefer the use of this Baroness head over the fake frames, do kinda wish the newest Five-pack body was used though. But that's alright... I'm glad I decided to pick this set up. Wonder what the Brazilian figures will turn out to be.

No matter how they try to hype it up... these are just customs. The money you pay is for someone elses non-licensed tweek on a Hasbro product.
I would pay $15.99 for this set, as it fits in line with the official stuff Hasbro made for Toys R Us. The Senior officers pack etc..
The outragous price they are asking for them makes me laugh. Hell I just watched a Gold Headed Destro from SDCC 2007 sell for half of what it sol for just 6 months ago on Ebay. And that was official convention shit from the real company.

They are better than your going to find from a custom or paying an arm and a leg to commision someone to make ones like this for you wihtout using cobra stickers for the sigils.... Do you think someone sat around and hand painted all of these sets in their basmenet? Haha
Don't buy it if you can't, no one is forcing you to do so. I would in a heart beat if I had seen the pictures sooner. I love CG stuff and these are top notch. I wish Hasbro would just release more stuff like these instead of piecing together crap like Thundercrapper and most of the rest of the new stuff coming...
Reapints or not, they look nice.

The good: The vipers are the awesome new ones.
The Bad: Everything else. .
Ok, its not too horrible, but this set is just kind of lame. I like those vipers, but in red? In my cobra, only elites are red, not vipers. So for the same price as this set I can go to wally world and buy, what 8 of the new cobra five packs and get those groovy vipers, not to mention 8 of the sexy new baroness figures, 8 of the well, ok, the rest of that set is just fodder,

I totally agree with the guy who said he likes this set because he's a 25AC fan. I've never bought any other figures from the Joe con or collector's club, but I'm buying these. I'm more excited by modern-style figures than nostalgic throwbacks to the vintage line. And I would agree that these are no more a "rehash" than ANY figure in the 25AC line is a rehash.
I'm a little confused by the people saying these are "customs" or not officially licensed by Hasbro. The club's own web site says they are the official Hasbro-sponsored collector's club. The fine print says "The G.I. Joe Collectors' Club is a Hasbro licensee. G.I. Joe is used with permission." They are not making unlicensed figures. So what would make these "unofficial" figures? What really does make them officially part of the line is that we know Hasbro will never release these figures in any other venue. That's because they are an official licensed exclusive. Are they technically not manufactured by Hasbro? However they're made they must have access to the Hasbro molds at least.
I joined the club and ordered both a boxed and loose Homefront Heroes package on the day they went up for $472. My calculations tell me that if I can sell off the entire loose set plus 6 of the Vipers, I would just need to net $22.48 per figure to get ALL my money back and still get to keep Tomax, Xamot, Baroness and 6 Vipers for free. Doc is still going for about that price and he was far more available than these. Sure he's a unique character, but even carded Shipwreck with the wrong tattoo has been going for $40. So I find it hard to imagine this set won't be worth its price. I don't approve of the limited production but given that, the price doesn't seem outrageous. Even if sets remain available from the club after the con, there will probably be people who just want to pay $25 for one figure they like and don't want to bother with the whole set.
I do have to say as a new member, if you can call it that (sure don't feel like one yet), that the club customer service sucks. I called a week after I faxed in my form and they said I should have been e-mailed if they received it, which I wasn't. They said there may have been trouble reading my e-mail address off the fax but they wouldn't take my name or e-mail over the phone, they just told me to wait or fax in the form again. Since they only would have gotten a couple hundred forms at most by that time, it would not take that much effort to take my name and e-mail me later to confirm they got it. And because I signed up to be a new club member on the same form, they also said they'd e-mail me my member identification within a couple weeks (LOL, real efficient) so I could get access to the member web site. They still have never e-mailed me my member information despite charging my card for the $472 5 weeks ago, so I can't access their web store as a member. I'd probably buy some more stuff from their site at the member price but apparently they don't want any more of my money.

I don't know, I was excited when this set was announced, bumbed when I saw the pics initially...but been staring at them for a few days now and have to say, the set is growing on me. The Viper legs...bumbed, but growing on me. I'm sure once I see one in person and hold it I will like it...the Baroness...I want the newer mold...no question but she still looks cool. The twins...why not, their cool.
Now, for extra Con goodies, I'm thinking CC from the best of the 80s DVD pack in crimson would be bitchin'. I don't think we'll see it so I'm currently working on my own to go with this set.
Now lets see some box art goodness!
EVERY week is Bulletman week. Heathen...

This set looks great. That said, I will have to make my peace with the fact that, given the price per figure, I will most likely never add it to my collection.
More power to those who can afford it though.

y'know , i'm too old to join in all the "official " or not arguments.
i do , however , remember what happened when comic books moved away from the newsstands where kids could get them and into speciality stores (clubs )
exclusive covers ,limited versions , etc -and the collectors paid big money .
when the comics became secrect collectibles , away from their original market , the market infflated -for a while ....
just saying comics and toys were both made for kids , and i think we should look at history , and get some perspective .

LOL, its ironic they chose these colors for the Viper.
We just did 2 Viper uniforms in almost this exact color scheme a few weeks ago, before the sets were announced.
Anyone interested in one lifesized and wearable, drop me a PM, LOL.
