I gotta disagree, MTN. Have you seen the kind of movies that are coming out? The visuals on Transformers, or Star Trek, or Iron Man, or any of a host of popular, big-budget movies are incredible! This movie's visuals look like a late-90's b-flick. Expecting more for our favorite property isn't looking for reasons to hate, it's hoping for the best. And we sure as $#!t ain't gettin that.
You also don't have to be able to create something to judge it. That's a completely false notion. We all read books, listen to music, and watch movies all the time and pass judgement. Nothing is wrong with that. Here's an idea. Why don't you stop trying to force others to like the movie? OK, I'm being sarcastic, but we're really not looking for reasons to hate the movie, they're just there, presenting themselves. It's not like I want to hate this movie. I just can't help myself because nearly everything we've seen - from the costumes, to the interviews, to the trailer, and now the "clip"- sucks. |

well we can at least be thankful the suits arent neon yellow, blue and pink like the 90's figures.

This garbage makes me embarassed to be a fan. And the "fans" who are supporting this movie, well, I think they're the ones who jumped back on board with the 25th Anniv. and they don't count anyway... they didn't have to suffer through the bad years with the true fans...

The sound on the video is out of time now.
I'm still going to go see this. Not on opening night though mind you. And when I do go to see it I may have a paper sack over my head with eye holes cut out. Actually maybe I'll skip the eye holes. Last edited by Pit Viper; 05-30-2009 at 08:19 PM.. |

(cough cough) OMG CharI is going to talk about the movie.
I usually avoid the movie threads because of all the bickering. Now i havent read back through this one in particular, but I figured this was as good as any to air my thoughts. I don't get all the "OMFG!" "OMG THIS IS GONNA SUCK BRO!" It's a 42 second clip, thats aimed at the young adults and teens that MTV aims for, That doesnt mean the whole movie is going to be like that. That means there going to get the MTV Males thinking Damn Sienna Miller is hot, and get thier butts in the seats. I don't always trust trailers and clips. Heck, I thought M Night's "Lady in the water" was supposed to be a horror movie. and if youve seen it, yeah, its definately isn't. I guess my opinion is, the clips their airing are aiming at the younger crowd which doesnt mean the rest of the movie is going to have the same feel. I have faith there going to give something good to the fans from the 80's that have supported them over the years. and I for one am happy if some clips has hopes of getting alot of butts into the theatre, because in turn, the line will live longer, and hopefully we will get more toys and such out of it. ok. im done. you can continue.

in all honesty, aren't we just all GLAD that G.I. Joe is getting recognition? I mean, I grew up with Joes and the only excitement that ever hit the theatre was GI JOE the cartoon movie, which unlike Transformers cartoon movie, was like a longer episode with no one dying.
yes they went about this with more of a science fiction adaptation than military approach.. but still, what was my initial reaction when pictures of the movie Optimus Prime came out? it was HIDEOUS.. but I LOVED the movie. We can be the judge when the movie is finally released.. like it or not, as a fan since the 80's I'm just glad G.I. Joe is finally getting a breath of life. Without any revenues or interest, there would be no new toys for us fans.. we'd still be stuck in ARAH or Sigma crap and horrible memories of the Ice Cream Trooper and bright neon colors

I disagree with you!
Ninja, I think the problem is, it's going to get the wrong kind of recognition when all is said and done, and no one wants that for the brand. No one wants a resurgence of GI Joe more than I, but it's not going to happen if the movie blows, like the clip did. This isn't just a photo or a leaked costume... it's an actual clip of post-production footage showing the (lack of) production skill that went into the movie.

There is nothing I can do about it, but no matter what, I will have to see the movie. I'm to big of a fan not to. And yes it might suck and I do not like the suits but I will be there to watch it and then make some sort of conclusion about it then.
