I never considered Zartan or his siblings Dreadnoks, they are just their employees.
Ripper was always my favorite and I remember winning him at a church event. He was the first 1985 figure I saw and I was so excited to see that the 1985 line actually featured some of my favorite characters from the Revenge of Cobra mini-series. Thrasher is second since I am a big fan of the Thunder Machine and I liked him in the comic. Buzzer is third for me, again, based on how he was written in the comic. |

That's an easy question, Zarana.

It depends a little on which continuities we go with. Overall, I like Zarana and Thrasher.
Thrasher actually ended up having a sympathetic side where he helped out some innocent villagers during the Marvel comics run, along with Zarana and a few others. I also thought Road Pig's personality in the Marvel comics was interesting, how he would talk with sophisticated language as Donald and then suddenly go off the rails. Buzzer was a good character because he was interesting, though as Firefly once said "Buzzer sometimes the depths of your repulsiveness amaze even me!" - when Buzzer laughed at the Soft Master sacrificing himself for "nothing." Buzzer was a good character but part of me definitely wanted to see him get what was coming to him. In the Devils Due comic, I liked Zanya, I thought she was cool and spunky. In the cartoon, I liked the romance storyline that Zarana had with Mainframe, it may be a bit funny in hindsight now but it was a fairly deep story for a kid audience.

#1 Gnawgahyde. He came loaded with gear and his poacher background made him stand out among the others.
#2 Ripper. My favorite of the first three by far. I dug the beard and mohawk more than his weapons though. #3 Thrasher. He had a sweet ride and was pretty badass in both the cartoon and comic. |

Gotta be our Modern day pirate: Zanzibar. I am a pirate lore enthusiast and a navy veteran. This guy was my third purchase back in the golden age of Joe. Second is Roadpig and then my secret crush: Zanya.

That's true Zartan was a Dreadnok some media, but not across all media. In the early cartoon it wasn't clear, they seemed more like his goons. In Palitoy's Action Force Zartan was just Zartan. In the comic it was revealed that he definitely joined them in Australia. Later Marvel issues he's left them...Zartan has no interaction with them for over 50 issues! And of course, the live action movies, not a Dreadnok mentioned. One of the evil secert service guys is called "Zandar", but there's no acknowledgement he's even related to Zartan. In the Sigma Six and RENEGADES cartoon, Zartan is leader of the Dreadnoks. But we shouldn't assume a leader is part of his underlings. Sarumon commanded Orcs, but was not an Orc. Moleman has his moloids, but he was human. Those are more obvious distinctions. |

If we're not including Zartan, then probably Ripper. He was such a cool figure, great accessories and card art (love his knuckle-duster knife).
