This just seems thrown together by a marketing team that googled what outfits edgy kids would wear. Or hipsters.

Quick-Kick is wearing cargo shorts. Which could very well keep him from kicking quickly. Not as bad as seeing Beast or Flash wear pieces of body armor, but still. They look like they raided Chuckles' closet.

At this point, they should just change Scarlett's code-name to "Cover Girl"...

I'm liking what they're saying, and a LOT of it is stuff GI Joe has need for a long time, especially in the character design aspect.
GI Joe doesn't work as straight up military (see the travesty that was Karen Traviss's run for proof), and I'm glad to see them taking more cues from the old cartoon than Hama's book. GI Joe should be FUN, hopefully this crew delivers. These quotes are my favorites: Quote:
As much as I love the previous runs on G.I. Joe – at IDW and elsewhere – far too often, far too many characters just look like “army men.” There’s the blond army man, the black army man, the woman army man, the bearded army man, and on and on and on…
Quote:
I see G.I. Joe as more of a scifi action book than a military one
Quote:
So, instead of following the trend toward hard, military drama, instead of wading into contemporary geopolitical issues, instead of trying to make the series feel “real” by increasing all the grim and gritty stuff… we’re veering off in a different direction.
Like the Sunbow cartoon series, we want this book to be fun, funny, action-packed and, most importantly, aspirational. That word was a massive part of my initial pitch for the project, and it’s why we’re doing things like amping up the science fiction elements, equipping everyone with laser guns and even putting a Transformer on the team.

And for those keeping score at home, we have IDW's record as follows: GI Joe V1 - Chuck Dixon (27 issues) GI Joe V2 - Chuck Dixon (21 issues) GI Joe V3 - Fred Van Lente (15 issues) GI Joe V4 - Karen Traviss (7 issues) |

I can't see what this is about as I'm at work right now, but I totally dig the new look for Rock n' Roll. You know you ultimately want more Sunbow-ish stuff when you watch GIJeff over and over...

...I just hope this time it's by somebody who likes the idea of G.I. Joe, unlike the last attempt where the writer spent the entire time focused on the rebel leader and the Cobra kid and basically ignored everybody else. They should have called it "Boring Generic Military Comic Guest Starring Some Characters That Share Code Names With G.I. Joe."
Agreed. Ever since the beginning of the IDW relaunch and the introduction of the M.A.S.S. Device and Zartan's clone, G.I. JOE is fully prepared to enter the realm of Transformers, Rom and the Micronauts. Last edited by seaneley; 09-23-2016 at 09:29 PM.. |

What's that you say? A bunch of fat old soldiers trying to be hip? Sounds like hasbro has been doing their research. This feels like its directly marketed to me....I'm in!!!
Looks like we might be getting a rock n roll figure at some juncture. Pending this isn't cancelled next year.
