Yeah, but kids today really don't have the imagination we had. We HAD to pretend cause that's al we had. Now with the current crop of games, simulators take away from that.
WoW takes the need for fantasy thinking away as it does it for them. Pokemon and YUGIOH have all the stats and things printed on the card that they just compare numbers and done. We had to say "NUH UH! mine has a big laser gun yours has a pistol, yeah, well now mine has a missile launcher"..etc. My son asks if he can play with this box of stuff I don't care about, mostly dupes, vehicles I only wanted the figure for, etc. I say sure, he sits down, gets them out, after putting the figures in the vehicles, he puts it all back and goes back to the Wii. I took me longer just to drag my toys to the front yard where I set them up on both sides and then raged a 2-4 hours battle. |

I'm still torn on this one...I'm not sure if it'll work for me or not. I guess ultimately the price will probably be the deciding factor for me

This is just thier way to give you a way to reinact 9 scenes all at once with all of your repainted figures on each level and made it a mobile carry to boot. Pretty lame...

I can tell you that I will be customizing my Pit. I really don't like the green colors.

That is a good guess as to why they made it this way. I don't mind that though, as long as it is built to withstand play I will be happy. I picked up an AT-TE and the middle Legs kept falling off.

Here's the thing... everyone wants to give Hasbro an excuse by saying that all the New stuff that we don't like is designed for the kids.... Well WHAT THE CRAP was the original ARAH Stuff Designed for?... 30 year old men?... I don't think so.

That would be the Vintage Cobra Hammer Head.. an AWESOME vintage vehicle. You won't find anything like that in a box soon.

So, everyone keeps saying "Its for the kids!" with the missile launchers and the crappy Pitt playset.
That logic is extremely flawed. The 1982-1986 lines had military-based and colored playsets and vehicles aimed at children. Adults were not buying the toys back in the early 1980s. The formula worked since producing quality vehicles and playsets were both realistic and fun to play with. The GI Joe original HQ was great, it had a jail for Cobra Commander and his buddies, looked similar to the one in the cartoon, and you could put the MOBAT and Vamp around it. The FLAGG was gigantic and had real working cranes, moving deck, lights and sounds but was again....realistic. You can have gimmicks but they should be welcomed gimmicks and not what you base playability on. For example, the new Night Raven comes with a trigger/handle bar. Was it needed? Rather than a handle-bar, how about leds that light up or maybe a fueling mini-playset station that comes with it. People think things have to be "reinvented". How many of you right now are crazy about Hasbro coming out with a 25th Anniversary 1991 Battle Wagon? Nobody, that's what I thought. The 1991 Battle Wagon was motorized, had launching missiles, and was very "kid-friendly". Its just not a worthwhile product from any point of view much like the PITT and many of the ROC vehicles (Even the classic vehicles repainted). Yet, so many people here want an updated Dragonfly, SkyStriker, Whale etc. I may get only one ROC product. I think Hasbro has a niche but they deviated from the source-material way too much in the upcoming movie to create something substantial. This doesn't look like a Transformers hit. And even then, it irks me to do this day that the Transformers look like some buggy-artsy weird robots. Go check out Super Hero films that deviate from the source-material, there are dozens of them. Then go watch Spider-Man 1 + 2, The Dark Knight, and Iron Man. There's a reason why I'm trying to learn CAD and get my own CNC Router. I'll just go make my own playsets and vehicles...... |
