I think alot of you are you missing the point, this will be on clearance for $25-30 just like the BMF and AT-TE.
If something that is supposedly a hotter line cannot move big ticket items, then this sure as shit won't either. |

The underrgound explanation thing does not work for me. How the hell does the "RV" part go under ground to spring out all of these levels? Does it do like a turtle and flip it's self over and the ground magically opens up and it injects its levels deep inside mother earth?
Or does it come with thousands of contrsuction workers that help dig a massive ass hole in the earth so they can drive this thing in there and then it opens up? If the insides can come out and detach properly from the main moving base then maybe just maybe that would work as a separate piece, but it's RV crawler really messes that up for me and the way it is all packed neatly inside. It would have been better to be a massive troop carrier like the vintage APC and have room to carry a few vehicles inside like a double decker car carrier truck armed to the teeth. Even giant missiles like the Rolling Thunder would have worked if they made it a large missile gantry.

Ha!
Point-taken! I was just describing my opinion on the FLAGG as a kid. I didn't have it, and maybe tried justifying not owning it, but it did seem kind of like just a plane shelf. At the time, and even now, i dont think the amount of fun/collectibility to be had is proportional to the amount of space it occupies, given how limited my space is. It seems like you've had a lot of fun with yours though, and your enthusiasm for it is awesome, so I'm probably wrong. As far as rolling this PIT into a wall, while the resulting explosion would be hilarious and magnificent, I'm more comparing it to the Defiant Complex, which I did have. At ten years old, I was old enough to take care of my stuff, but shoving this gigantic bastard on its tiny, ineffective wheels was a Herculean task, it's many tiny parts struggling to pop off in the process. And several did, crushed and broken under the weight of this mammoth. A couple of wheels broke off also, and it was a giant pain in the ass turning the crank and pushing violently against the shuttle to raise it into position. So, While I am not entirely impressed with the PIT, I can appreciate the solid, smooth vehicle form not being a chore to play with. I think the TerrorDrome would have been fun for one of those get every toy ever out, have a big storyline in your head days, but since it's most attractive play feature is it's size, pound for pound a VAMP is more fun as a toy to me. But, you are right, there is a lot of toy fun to be had with these, and your excitement is contagious, although I do feel sometimes that these items' desireability gives them a holy Grail status. I do wish that times hadn't changed so much that we can't get that sort of complexity these days. As far as today's toys, I think the PIT seems okay, more in line with Rolling Thunder and such and not truly comparable to the 3 giants. I think back then it would have been more of a $50 toy. Quote:
The FLAGG just a conversation-piece? You could fly your SkyStriker onto it and then have it stop on the catapault. You could have Cobra sink your FLAGG and have the Joes escape in the life-boat. You could summon the SHARC to the top deck. Then you could have Keel-Haul order commands to Ship-Wreck via the megaphone. You could also throw captured Cobra EEls in prison.
The Terrordrome being boring? That's Cobra's base....where are you going to attack it with your Joe team? Its circular with guns everywhere. You could have a trapped Gi Joe in the prison and plot a jail break!...... The Gi Joe playsets had gigantic play-value. Even the mobile command center was neat. I hardly doubt I want to roll my PITT as fast as possible across the room with all of my figures in it into walls. I can justify the price, its a playset that costs a lot. It just...is terrible. While we're at it: Let's have a Gi Joe 25th Anniversary Captain GridIron with Tactical Battle Platform Football Field with neon pink firing missiles and put gigantic plastic monster truck wheels on it. |

They'll never release a FLAGG now, because sales of this will be based on whether it's successful enough to warrant more large scale playsets. And from opinions read, this thing is below average!

But it doesn't matter what we think, as it's kids who will buy it. Well, that's the consensus anyway.

Kids won't be able to afford it. It'll be up to the parents to buy it for the kids, and no money scrimping parent in this day and age of economic slumpage will justify buying this huge thing. No way I can see it. And kids would rather new TF movie toys instead.

If I was a child I would love this thing. It has a whole lot of play value, with all the gimmicks and play features packed into it. I understand some peoples concerns about it but it wasn't made for us, just like the Flagg wasn't made for GI Joe Doll collectors who where adults when it came out. I owned a Castle Gray Skull as a young child and it was great but as an adult looking back I can see how it is nothing more than a place to display figures.
Hasbro is not trying to capture our money, we already give it to them. They are looking for the children to latch onto the movie toy line. kids are the target audience plan and simple. If you don't like this toy then don't buy it. Don't even look at it on the shelf. If you really want to show the all-powerful toy monster companies how much you hate this toy, do not buy it. Not even if it goes on sale for 5 bucks. That will show them how bad it is. The problem with all those people who are complaining about this or other movie toys is that you will not put your money where your mouth is. If you really hate this line, don't buy any of it. Keep your money in your banks and leave the entire ROC line on the shelves, don't buy any part of it not even when it goes on clearance. I have been listening to so many people complaining about this and other ROC toys for the last year and I just can't understand it. We my friends are being given Vehicle wave 5 and 7 figure packs. Hasbro is still helping its collector friends out, but the ROC line is meant to bring in people not like us. People who may have remembered GI Joe from their childhood or who are starting to be introduced into the GI Joe world. I am sorry if this sounds like a rant but I am just floored by all this negativity. I love you guys but "don't hate". I am excited for what is about to come, you don't have to be; but try to, at the very least, realize these are children's toys. (please don't flame the messenger) Hugs to you all Samantha |

But even though the Millenium Falcon is iconic there is not any media currently focusing on it where the GI Joe movie will be advertised heavily |

Hasbro also likes to release their toy line months before the movies thus the stuff gets picked over and begins to clog. When the movie comes out, Target has already put it on clearance, walmart stops getting in stock as it's glutting and TRU moves the front space back to the toy aisles. The same happened to Batman, Spiderman, superman, xmen, Hulk. See the pattern? |
