Akiva Goldsman was an influential decision maker on Fringe. I believe he's also an Anna Torv proponent whom I always felt would have made an awesome Scarlett! From Olivial Dunham to Scarlett....sweet!

Brian K. Vaughan!?
While I love his comics, I have a difficult time believing he can bring these action-toy properties into a shared universe without resorting to ridiculous angst or talking-head philosophical rhetoric. ROM - "This universe is so vast. I've traveled from one end to another, and it's beauty continues to astound me!" Matt Tracker - "Yet, I wonder what it all means? The ability to fly this car over the ocean pales in significance to the cosmos above. In fact, until just now, I thought a man named Mayhem was my biggest problem. Today, I look at you, and I feel like a spec of dust. My life, like my technology, is an illusion!" Leoric - "Illusion? What thou call illusion, I call a glimpse into true reality. Have at thee!" Acroyear- "And who are you callin' small?!" Snake-Eyes - "..." And then they fight. |

Akiva Goldsman is bar none one of the most mediocre writer/producers in Hollywood. If you want a movie made with the minimum level of competence and the maximum level of forgettability he's the man you hire. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akiva_Goldsman |

GI Joe isn't Dr. Zhivago or Shakespeare...
Plus how can you say a movie sucks when you haven't even seen it? Or are you a sheep when it comes to that stuff? Quote:
I did look at his full resume. Only one I've seen of those you list is I Am Legend, which was mediocre at best. From the reviews I heard of everything else on your list, they're all also mediocre at best, except Beautiful Mind which was a critical darling. And there are a TON of movies on his resume which were even more poorly received than the ones you list, like Jonah Hex and Fifth Wave, and maybe only 2 or 3 others out of over 30 that were well-reviewed as anything better than a passable time waster. Goldsman's directorial debut Winter's Tale (2014) got a 13% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Goodness gracious! Everyone wants to jump on the "cinematic universe" bandwagon now. Just because you connect the dots doesn't mean you have a better product.

If kids want to watch it then it could make money. But alas the tie-in will be tough, unless they just go over the top with CGI-and Gadgetry.
For example JEM and the holograms, was not a great movie, it was an ok update to the brand. I think that might have been the wrong way to go. I think they need to stick closer to the Cartoons. Make them almost ridiculous, but campy and simple and fun. No one dies. Guys jump out of helicopters at the last minute everyone has a laser gun. Giant helicarriers, Ghosts, Fatal Fluffies. Anyone remember when Optimus died and how gut wrenching that was? It's because no one ever died. Kids can't handle death nor should they, and neither will their mothers. Create a silly movie geared towards little kids that mom's will want to take their kids to and then promptly buy all the toys. Make the villians a bunch of buffoons who always lose and are not terrorist after world domination. They are more Snidely Whiplash, Boris Badenov than Osama bin Laden. but poke fun at all the worlds silly leaders and their stereotypes, My Little Pony won't work though. But I can see Star Brigade making a huge appearance in a combined universe with all the Sci-Fi themed brands Hasbro wants to combine. The Micronauts Rescue ROM and then Crash on The Visionaries' Planet, only to later time warp away to Earth, yet they are still followed by Baron Karza, and Reptos, Membros and even the Wraiths. Luckily the Joes with the help of Matt Trakker and MASK help save the day. Yet Mile Mayhem gets his hand on some tech that Cobra Steals from him. This opens a wormhole to the Visonaries palnet and Equestria and all three worlds combine in a Psychedelic mess, with Magic, and Sci-Fi and Unicorns and Shipwreck cracking the best one-liners of all time. You know you would pay to watch that.
