This is from someone over at the AllSpark forums:
"I've just been in contact with Robert Walsh through Facebook; My question (June 16th 2017); Hi Robert, Just curious since there has been no update anywhere on the internet about this. Is this project still going on? And if so, do you have any idea about the release date? His answer (June 29th 2017); Score is now remastered and in Sony Records hands for release ------- • I guess we can consider this to be good news!! ;) It's been quite a while, but the project seems to be very much alive..." Maybe Sony is waiting to release till after the next movie? Waiting for a spike in interest to maximize potential buyers? Or Possibly we'll see a release right before the movie to boost interest in the brand leading up? |

Well they officially have announced the Transformers score for March 9th. Hopefully G.I. Joe ARAH is not far behind since this collection has been dubbed “Hasbro’s 80’s TV Classics”. |

Geez that's amazing except it's on VINYL? WTH...is there any other kind of release for it? There was definitely some of the same music used on both the Joe and TF shows.
45 minutes is NOT a lot of the music. I think the music used in either of these shows would run for hours. The label releasing this is some kind of specialty retailer specializing in vinyl collector's records. It's a very strange way to release this for the first time. 45 minutes should cover the most common tunes for G.I. Joe easily. There is so much repetition across the episodes. They practically have a handful of tunes for each scenario (sneaking around, battle, back at base, etc). I'm sure they'll release digital versions as well, there's no way this stays only on vinyl.

So the Transformers albums are sold out, including Thinkgeek's Bumblebee variant. Has the music leaked anywhere yet?
Oh, and I've listened to the rips of a lot of the Sunbow G.I. Joe score. There is way, way more than 45 minutes of original music. There are hours of it. Here's a little Instagram clip from the album. Cool stuff! Great to know Walsh had the earlier Johnny Douglas themes saved. This is clear Douglas material with the '70s-ish sound that was also common in M.A.S.S. Device and Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends. After M.A.S.S. Device, I believe Joe started sharing all its new theme music with Transformers, and that material was composed by Walsh. That music was more "generic," in the sense it didn't include recognizable Joe or Transformers themes. It has more of an '80s sci-fi thriller sound, less of a '70s disco sound, and that is where some of the best music was in my opinion. So if the Transformers album has any of that later music too, it'll be some of the same music heard on G.I. Joe. https://www.instagram.com/p/BbCmICaDSBW/ Last edited by JediJones; 03-12-2018 at 07:25 PM.. |

There are near endless variations on a core set of tunes within a set of themes. 45 minutes could cover most of the essentials but it would be great to see at least double that run length.

I honestly think just covering M.A.S.S. Device alone you'd get over 45 solid minutes. Then after that at least as much new material was introduced for the next two mini-series. Can't remember if the third mini-series was all re-used music or not. Obviously once you got to the daily series the music was largely re-used from the previous mini-series. Remember, these were not quiet shows. The music score was playing almost non-stop in every episode. The sound was there to distract you from the sometimes crude 1980s animation, LOL.

I LOVE the music score from the Sunbow cartoons - it's so incredible and unique. I am really hoping the G.I. Joe release comes out soon.
