I skipped the con again this year because I like to avoid places with tens of thousands of people crowded into one space. Anyone else go? Any Joe presence besides this contest announcement?

Hey everybody! I love reading all the support for the authors and seeing Jim, Justin, Troy and Bill on here sharing their descriptions that I used to create the art.
I was ecstatic to be asked to do the concept art for these, and jumped at the chance to be involved. Especially since I am familiar with the authors or know them personally. I created some more art as well for a few of these characters, however, I think to keep each character art sheet designed similarly, some of the art was cut out. I'll ask my contact at Hasbro if I can show some of that off, or if they have plans to release more later. Also I have to run it by Hasbro, but I'd love to give the original art to all the authors as well. I think all the time and effort they are putting into building the brand should be congratulated and promoted as best we can. I'll vote when the poll gets launched, but I'll keep my opinion to myself so as not to show any favoritism. ;) Good luck to all the authors, I too wish all 4 could get made. Also to give Mark Webber credit, even allowing this to happen and for Hasbro to acknowledge the time and effort in creating these novella's is to be commended. |

As promised, here is the bio and description that I sent to Hasbro and the art that I sent along with it.
Stiletto File Name: Paithoon Kwaigno Primary Military Specialty: Covert Operations Secondary Military Specialty: Infantry Birthplace: Hua Hin, Thailand Military Grade: E-5 (or equivalent) Personality Description/Specialized Training: Intelligence suggests that Stiletto received Special Forces training and then participated in her government's covert actions in Laos. She became a mercenary after that and vanished, reappearing years later as Mercer's bodyguard following his defection. Their relationship is unclear, but given the company Mercer kept prior to coming to the G.I. Joe team, is it impossible to rule out that she too worked for Cobra? Stiletto has received extensive military training and is familiar with most NATO and Warsaw Pact small arms. She is proficient in infiltration and demolitions and highly skilled in the use of bladed weapons. Motto or Quote about the character from a teammate: Red Dog says, "Where she came from or how she knows Mercer, me and Taurus don't know. I can say this, though: She knows her way around a battlefield. The girl's obviously had some serious training somewhere. Also, Mercer is one of the toughest guys I know, yet he chose her to keep him alive during those first few weeks after leaving Cobra. What does that tell you?" Stiletto is a five foot seven inch female from Thailand. She has a high forehead and jet black hair that she keeps braided in a single cord that runs down her back. However, there is a streak of white hair just above her left eye. It is from this patch of hair that her most striking feature emerges to blemish her long, narrow face. A scar runs straight down her forehead and bisects her dead eye (in this manner she resembles Cesspool). The scar continues down her face and stops at her lips (which appear to be perpetually scowling) just to the left of her two front teeth. The scar is offset to the left a little when it resumes below her lips and vanishes beneath her chin. She wears nothing on her head, but she will have a bandana tied around her neck. The idea here is to suggest an affiliation with Cobra; were she to bring it up over her nose and mouth, she would resemble a Cobra Officer or soldier. Stiletto will wear a tight fitting sleeveless black shirt. It will be adorned with a bandoleer that crosses her chest and shows off a number of knives. Her arms will be bare except for a small strap around her right arm, which also houses a throwing knife. She will wear black gloves. The belt she wears should also have knives attached to it. She should carry a Dragunov sniper rifle. A big thanks to Robert Atkins for taking what was given to him and producing those wonderful pieces of art. I hope that he is given permission to share more. |

After the voting I was going to ask if could get the original art. Nice to see Robert was already thinking of it.
Would love to see the other sketches done. Hopefully Hasbro lets him. Can't wait for the vote to start. #voteblackjack #teamblackjack

I like the whole concept of being able to vote on which action figure gets made! With that being said; Hasbro/G.I. Joe should do this with some characters/figures and vehicles! Give us the fan/consumer/collector a chance to let our voices be heard in the form of a vote! Have drawings (..like they did with these fan vote characters) and a mock 3D rendering of what the figure (..like the Marauders Valkyries Kickstarter just did) or vehicles (..3d renderings of what the vehicle would look like in scale with G.I. Joe figures) would look like! Have a time limit on the voting to where it will expire at a said date! This is another way to create a buzz within the G.I. Joe community!
