I think the rule right now is to delay things for better days in the future

MJ has said in the past that both the tank-top and shirtless torsos will be connected to the Vietnam Kickstarter, which means more reasons why everyone should support it once it releases. I'd love to see the Vietnam Kickstarter be the quickest funded project in Marauder history!
I am expecting this Kickstarter to be the "be all, end all" to my MTF-G.I. Joe customizing since my interests are more in the 1982-1988 lines. Jason Quote:
And obviously it has been delayed because of the virus. There’s more important things going on than gimme my Vietnam figures. Yeah, let’s worry about how many of us are healthy and still alive once this pandemic calms down.

"I saw this morning that McFarlane’s Spawn funded in under 15 minutes. The way everyone’s wondering when the Vietnam Kickstarter is going to happen I want to see it funded in ONE day with every Stretch Goal reached by the end."
My mind is blown. How the hell can Spawn be more popular than GI Joe and Joe-style action figures?!? I always thought Spawn was a B-level comic book, C-level action figure line and D-level movie, but I guess it must have a cult following large enough for that Kickstarter to fund in under 15 minutes. And of course everyone is right, this pandemic is way more important than a bunch of plastic figures. I hope everyone makes it through in one piece. Stay safe people. |

I am not a huge fan, but I’ll likely pledge. Todd’s autograph, a little nostalgia, and the historical factor for a general toy collector all contribute to that decision. If I do ever open a museum, I figure I should have those pieces there. I have to imagine he’s getting a huge boost from comic fans as well as toy fans. |

I don’t care about Spawn, but I’m not surprised it funded. When I got into back into action figures as an adult (well, teenager, actually) it was 1995 and Spawn was a huge, and I mean HUGE deal. People were paying through the nose for those things, which I considered more like statues than action figures with their limited articulation and break if you look at them construction. Between that and people being willing to knife you for a monkey face Leia it was a wild time.
What I don’t understand is why this is a KS at all. Todd has very successful toy company.

Spawn did well because McFarlane is a clever marketer. There hasn't been a Spawn figure released in years despite some persistent demand(lots of people new to collecting since he made his last Spawn). So this year he finally released limited quantities of a new Spawn figure in his Mortal Kombat 11 line that sold out instantly, so tons of people put the reissue on pre-order and are frustrated anticipating it.
Then he drops this kickstarter where he promises a similarly-articulated but comic-styled Spawn figure and the fans who missed out on the MK version threw money at it even though their MK preorders will be fulfilled within the next month. The jokes on them because he did his usual nonsense and this comic version was sculpted in a dynamic pose so it's going to look pretty meh when it's released with all the articulation but all the musculature is sculpted to be moving in one direction. Wa-wah sound. Marauders is in a different boat, this is a much smaller faction of the hobby(1:18) and this isn't a well-known IP. The VietNam kickstarter will still do well but the Spawn thing is in another league. |

The Spawn Kickstarter is historic, a million dollars in one day...
