My main gripe with easy-to-pop arms is that they are too easy to pop. I make stuff for my kids to play with, so durable-enough-for-play is a consideration for me and a big point in favor of MTF over HACKS in my book. If they were boil/pop shoulders (like Indiana Jones and Star Wars) that compromise would be fine by me, but it would require a total materials and design change from existing MTF stuff. So that's probably not going to happen.
I'll die on this hill, I tell ya. NO EASY-POP ARMS! Also, while black business attire doesn't seem to have much "jacket" crossover for the original MTF figures, there is room to expand to different jacket/arm types down the road. That expansion (trench coats, dusters, winter gear, etc.) could easily apply more directly to the original MTF build so I'm going to proclaim that as another reason not to monkey with the mechanics of the figures. Keep it compatible, no matter how unlikely you may think a combination will be. Cracking a torso is really, really easy and just needs some glue to put back together. That's a small price for unlimited flexibility. Anyway, I'm climbing off the soap box. It's a moot discussion for now, since the only jacket we will apparently see is sculpted on at this time. I will still be happy just to see the non-jacketed buck come to fruition, assuming it does.

Yup, I know. That's the non-jacketed buck I'm referring to. MJ is throwing in all the right alternative parts to make the figure useful still. It's just going to be short the removable jacket which means I will have to hit a caster's webstore to get some.

The suit hasn't even been sculpted yet, so there's time for feedback to be taken under advisement. It seems the main concern is that a soft jacket over the rigid torso would be too bulky, but I suggested in the comments that he make the torso piece intentionally thin and sucked in and completely skin over it in soft PVC. The sucked-in pseudo torso, having no detail of its own, other than the neck, could be re-used for other, future coated or untucked torso designs to be skinned on top of in soft plastic.
By the way, the dress pants are going to be a different sculpt from the Contract Ops pants. He's going all out. New tooling just to have pleats rather than flat fronts! |

As suspected it didn't take long for both the white Exo suit and the Black dog to be unlocked.
Moving nicely along again, the all-in as it stands now: (Note that the dog accessories might have changed a bit, I am using the first image we ever saw of that, and the norm is that these are reworked a little bit.) |
