I thought Renegades was written well and Hasbro pulled the plug WAY too soon. Not to mention they had NO product on the shelf to coincide with the series until after it was over. One reason Joe was so successful in the 80s is the toon marketed the toys kids could go find on the shelf afterwards.

I also thought Renegades was good. I was lucky enough to have that HUB channel, and I enjoyed the show. Hasbro definitely pulled the plug early on that one.
It was nice back a few years ago. We had a current cartoon, figs to coincide with it, plus 30th anniversary, and POC still on shelves, and the original 80,s cartoon was on late at night too. |

Further, the ARAH series, while well produced for its day, was hardly the epitome of "quality", and Sigma Six outdid it in pure visuals, while Renegades handily outdid it in writing quality. Joe needs a cartoon, but making it a cheese fest like ARAH may not be the best way to approach it. Quote:
Still betting on a 6" collector line and 12" Titan figures as highly probable :p A goal doesn't always reflect what will finally happen. The Joe team has been trying to get vehicles and playsets out for years, to middling success. Besides, those 2.5" Marvel movies figures are seeing a good bit of vehicles and playsets... :p

Wanted to emphasis that. People need to keep in mind that Retaliation wave 1/2 figures used the "modern era body", and we still saw cuts to articulation to MANY figures. I personally wouldn't be adverse to that if we saw Hasbro bulk up the torsos a bit so that they all wouldn't need web gear not to look anorexic.
Modern Era, okay fine whatever. Just do something new with it. I think uber-realism, uber-detail, and uber-articulation are all overrated.

Why? I'm not being funny, I really want to know what makes you want to read that? It just sounds very wonky to me. When that stuff was put into the main line I was way out of collecting G.I. Joe.

Renegades was good but too Nolanized. It refused to leave in any originally silly elements to the characters, which made characters like Mindbender and Zartan very boring.
I think Weber said at the con that it skewed too old in audience for them, so that gives me hope they'd keep the sillier elements in any new cartoon they did. |
