I guess I missed the real point of this line. I thought it was a nostalgic line made to celebrate the original Joes, and all the favorites that came after. 1987 is when the line jumped the Sharc (I'm sorry, it's the Night Specter now) for me. I understand making a few of the hits between '87 and now, but it appears Hasbro is ready to dive in with lots of the misses all over again, and for the same reasons.
I'm not complaining. I like all the figures so far. But constant repaints, and goofy designs are what killed this line for me in the first place. I know I was reliving my childhood all over again here, but I didn't realize I might also be reliving the part when I had to walk away.

Ah it is interesting how everyone is different. We've got younger(-ish) guys that didnt like anything after mid 80's. Then there's me that's 31 and didnt really get into GIJoe in a big way until that time. This latest Snake Eyes is fantastic (imo), now I'm not a completist (I dont see the point) but I'm enjoying this whole line and will collect any figure that I think looks good/great.

In this case, I don't agree that Hasbro is playing hop-skotch with a shark just yet, but the repaints are starting to wear a tad. Look at the T-formers movie line as perfect example of how repaints should NOT be done. The same exact mold for Bumblee is being re-used for Cliffjumper, albeit a snazzier paint job for CJ. Okay, off topic granted, but the point I'm making is that repaints can kill a line. Unique, Hasbro, that's what fans want...and BOY are we willing to pay for it, sit outside WM and Target stores for it, and dig into our kids college funds to finance it! :-D |

Also, I agree with you that it is interesting how 25th fans fall into one of several camps: -Old timers like me, who started with the earliest 80's Wave 1 figures -Late 20's to early 30's collectors who didn't really get into Joe until '84-87 -Fans who've only recently discovered GI Joe through the 25th line- *although this seems to be an extreme minority, as most have some passing interest of the original Joes from back in the day when they collected them as kids. |

i guess i fall into the 82-85-6 camp. 1 don't really care for the latest version of se either but i certainly understand tons of people do. in the end, i'll get them all so i'm happy. they could make him the 'wrong' crimson for all i care and i'd still buy him just because now i can vs. being a very poor kid left to drool and dream in the toy aisles. it's amazing how a bit of plastic can bring a smile and make the day worth while.
if we ever do get to the oddball stuff, that will just get left in a box in storage like the latest version of se will.

I think you hit the nail on the head, us younger guys love the second half of the arah run as much as the early part. when i was a kid my snake eyes v3 was probably my most played with figure as well as the joe camo storm shadow, so i am really excited to have what they are calling version four even though it is version 3 of snake eyes it is awesome. i also love big boa and raptor and crystal ball though as well as later cobra's like night viper and frag viper. The thing i love is that so far they are hitting some figs from every era and that rocks

"So you want them make 82-87. Which is roughly 125 figures, which we have about 50% of, then stop?"
Do you honestly believe that many of the figures after 87 would sell well. Outside of storm shadow and snake eyes Hasbro hasnt strayed from the early years with the exception of some devils due renditions of old characters. What I and many others would like to see is some comic book characters and possible cartoon colored characters packaged with DVD's of the show. I really dont want the 25th line to remake everything GI Joe ever had its name on. |

was someone requesting every character be made? i certainly do not expect 125+ to be released and my wallet sure hope not. i like the limited nature of the line personally. to do everything over again makes it seem somehow less important/precious.
i too would LOVE to see more comic/toon accurate deals, either 2 or 5 packs. toss in some accurate props and you've got yourself a sure fire hit! like the cc with crystals from mass device. wish they did radioactive se to go along with it.

I would hope that purist would recognize that this is v3 Snake Eyes we are talking about not v4. He was still a really popular toy. I am mostly a 82-87 guy but selling this version is a no brainer to me.
With all of the talk about Cutter who is only important to more hardcore people (myself included) how can you tell Hasbro he would sell more than SE v3? |
