Gi Joe # 212 The death of Snake Eyes!!! This makes me wonder if Hamma is wrapping up the series.

I'm happy Antonio Fuso is back (even only on a subscription variant cover).

Interesting that Snake eyes is in his original outfit in this series. Makes me wonder if there is going to be a reboot of Joe coming featuring a new V1 Snake Eyes figure. If I recall correctly they would feature figures coming in the not to distant future in the old marvel comics.

The comics have very little to do with any new Hasbro product at all. The only time that happens is with a movie tie-in comic. Plus there were a lot more new characters every year to write in, nowadays there are very few new characters getting figures. The new characters wind up in the non Hama titles or are even generated from them. I don't have an opinion either way on this title, it has gone way off the beaten path. It will be most interesting to see what happens and people are talking about it which has not happened in a long time. Even issue 200 did not get this much buzz.

"Death of Snake-Eyes", huh? What're the odds he'll stay dead?

Probably about the same as Wolverine does over at Marvel.

With it being done by Hama, I'm apt to say this will not be a mere publicity stunt to drum up sales as Marvel and DC tend to do. Given how central he is to Hama's run, I'd also hazard that maybe he's looking at wrapping this run soon-ish (250 is a solid exit number)

Considering the nature of the books (nostalgia or too "sophisticated" for kids), I don't see the inclusion the "look selection" as being indicative of anything. Probably chose the v1 look to make the Hama book a little bit different than the IDW stuff which prefer his v2 look. It's not bad military-political thriller stuff...but it's absolutely boring as GI Joe. I dropped it after 3 issues. I've generally enjoyed Traviss's work in the past, but nothing I've seen in the book, aside from names, makes me think it's GI Joe. Makes me roll my eyes how much the solicits are trying to make this into an event at this stage.

Series wrapping up? Maybe...but I think I remember Hama suggesting an indefinite number, even beyond 300. Of course, the way he writes--page by page--who knows. That style would tire me the hell out if I was the author.
I will read Hama's work until he's done, regardless of the " meh" factor. As far as SE 's death meaning anything, who knows. We 've seen SS and CC die and return to life. Then again, we 've seen Soft Master, Kwinn/Dr. Venom (besides momentary virtual returns) and others stay dead. Traviss' work? I personally love it! All that "boring" writing is just developing characters--like file cards used to do--setting us up to care about the characters when the crap hits the fan. At least, that's my hope.
