Why Hasbro would go to the trouble of spinning up a line expression for Joe at the 6" scale and only have one figure planned makes zero sense. No, if it's happening (and that's still a big if) then it will most likely at least have a core cast assortment. Of course this is just a guess, but that's all this thread is at this point.

There is clearly precedent for Hasbro to make items for SDCC without any retail plans to go with it. |

Part of me wonders if the potential for a Joe 6" line is why that excellent BFS Gung-Ho sculpt has yet to be used anywhere. Although... if you're listening I'd gladly buy that mold in both the 3 3/4" and 6" scale, Hasbro.

All of which is moot speculation, of course, since we don't even know if there will be such a thing as a 6" SE. |

From a personal perspective - I'd be out. I'm too old to start over with an entirely new set. 6" is intriguing and I like the way a lot of the Legends line has been done but in a Joe setting I feel like the proper blend of quality/quantity has been reached at several points... and then thoroughly thrown into disarray.
I look at it in contrast to the array of what we've seen in the 3.75-4 inch line over the last 5-10 years and there's just no way either 4 or 6 inch can support that volume. From 25th to ROC to POC it felt like the end of 25th and ROC became responses to initial demand that flooded the market with too many designs too quickly. For the most part the lines felt successful - I don't believe there was so much peg warming that it was quintessentially "killing the brand". The delay of Retaliation was, in my opinion, successful from a movie making standpoint but in terms of balancing with product at retail it was a blow for sure. Combine that with the cheapening of the product - which the Retaliation does have with a number of figures and its no surprise that the step back has occurred. I'd love to say I could start again on 6" but I have to limit myself to a single scale for the sake of size and cost discipline and the best mixture of character depth, quality, cost, and quantity is the 4" line. I've already starting divesting a bit of the 4" that doesn't reach display and to provide for more limited 4" offerings. There's just not a way that I can reshuffle the deck to make a 6" line work for me. All said - hope it works though. |

I won't buy Star Wars at this size and I'm not going to start getting G.I. Joe either. One of the best things about 3.75" scale is the interaction with the vehicles.

A 6" line is a return to the original 12" action figure's larger roots - a figure and scenario based line. And it certainly doesn't rule out vehicles. See the original Joe 12" line, the current MOTUC line, the current Batman '66 Mattel line and the Star Wars Black Series. You won't get the Kille Whale or Terrordrome, but you're not gonna get that at 4" either. That age has ended. But you might see a Ferret, or a VAMP or a Night Landing Craft, or a FANG... maybe even a Water Moccasin. |

Undecided. When Hasbro made the relaunch of the Joe line in 07 it took off like wildfire. If you have low visibility when it come to marketing through out the year and you only market for a movie then you will have low sales. Hasbro needs to use what they have out right now exposing the collectors and children to the Joe line. Start out with what works and move on. On a larger scale you are bound to get much better and clearer details on the figures. This could be also a good jumping on point for a great relaunch bring back the 4" figures, the Gentile Giants, and the 6" figures. As I have always thought though Hasbro should NOT go away from the main line; if a movie comes out then make that a sub-line. The movies will not be here forever (in movie terms) and to stop a main line just for a movie... THAT'S JUST CRAZY. :p We will see, I hope for the best because I am a 4" collector. 6" Joes will only drive my wife crazy.
(Please excuse the ramblings of a crazy person. XD )

There is always a heated discussion on whether collectors can sustain a line. I think that collectors are not enough to sustain a line that has several waves of several figs each throughout the year. I think that if collectors could sustain a line then Joe would still be going strong.
The thing about the 6" SW Black line is that it is not a "line" in the same sense of the word as 3 3/4 lines. 6" SW Black has a few waves throughout the year and the waves consist of 4 figs each. I think using this model that Joe collectors could be enough to sustain a 6" Joe Black line. What remains to be seen is if collectors are willing to adjust to a new scale. |

AT this stage, I don't think ANYBODY should be maintaining the idea that collectors alone can sustain a mass retail toyline.
I also don't think anyone is really expecting collectors to sustain a 6" line either (those that do bother to buy into it, anyway). If hasbro is looking at a 6" Black-like line, then I really believe they think whatever collectors they lose, will be more than made up for by the casual collectors and 6" centric collectors that are apt to pick up the line.
