HISS III at TRu was $9.99. VSV HISS IV was $14.99. DTC version was a similar price at TRU. Hasbro owns the gijoe franchise and the mold they are using is old. I don't see why anyone would think it would cost more than it has before.

I DO appreciate what they are doing..If not I wouldnt waste my time on this forum or the money buying some of my favorite toys again. I DO think they should make it beneficial to buy the newly released models vs buying the retro ones on Ebay. The re-released figures are obviously much better. Why not the same for the vehicles? While I agree with you that they already are very cool, I also tend to think that they should be upgraded such as with the figures.

Maybe Target wanted something now, so Hasbro threw them this bone and then later we'll see the all new Hiss. They did say wait until toyfair where they will reveal all. |

where i fault this retro release is that you can pick up a to scale vehicle from bbi/fov right now for $20 or less vs. picking up a vintage repaint for almost the same cost. i'll still buy one just to fill out my hiss collection but it will just got to storage due to it's lack of any wow factor. my kids see the bbi/fov stuff and go bug eyed, they just glance at the vintage stuff as it's now out of scale and lacks the level of detail you come to expect.
lets hope that the toy fair shows us much better things to come than simply vintage repaints. otherwise my 25th figures will all get displayed with bbi/fov.

I too would like Updated vehicles but I understand (and in the case of the AWE-Striker am happy) Vintage re-release vehicles are being put out first. Hasbro is like a frightened animal when it comes to vehicles. They believe that vehicles don't sell well so you can't start a new toy line with vehicles. When dealing with frightened animals you have to be paitent and coax them out of their fear. That what we have to do with Hasbro concerning vehicles

Inflation, rising costs of plastics due to higher petro prices, rising costs of fuel for transportation... Shall I continue? |

If the Hasbro guys hadn't said in Atlanta that some retooling would be done, I might be willing to believe the idea of $9.99 price. There's that investment, the new packaging desgin (which is fantastic), and the fact that it's a Target exclusive, which makes it a more limited run than if Wal-Mart had been ordering some, too. I think $14.99 is more realistic, but I'm betting on $19.99.
