Still needs heat. I boil and pop but still be gentle because the pegs are frail- as you've seen.

I haven’t painted these, but if it’s the same as joes you gotta use testors model master acryl, or Tamiya acrylic. Hobby lobby carries the testors and hobbytown USA the Tamiya.
Thanks man.

Ok great! I finally opened all 30 and man they're amazing. The detail and paint apps are better than most 6 in figures. And they feel more durable. With MOTUC winding down im glad to have found these lil guys.

Gotta be careful if you get the testors, the acryl and the enamels look really similar, gotta read the labels on the bottles. Model master acrylic not enamel.

Tuner is right on the acrylics and both work well. Another brand that Range Viper sold me on is Vallejo from hobby lobby found in the model paint section. I do caution that Tamiya does stay/become tacky over time because of the oil in it. You need to keep their paint in a cool area, under 72 degrees, and seal it with a topcoat to maintain a clean look.

When painting action figures, always dis-assemble it as much possible before doing any work. You'll no doubt want to sand/file/trim down the joints where one piece rubs against another to prevent the paint from scraping right off upon posing; and you'll definitely want to wash the figure's parts with dish soap before painting to get rid of any exudates that will interfere with laying down a good coat of paint. For durability, sanding/filing/trimming the joints and using a good sealant are more important than the brand of paint used, imho. I use Americana brand DuraClear Ultra Matte sealant on my figures and I've *never* had any chipping or scraping (except when I get lazy about the sanding/filing/trimming bit, lol). That stuff is invisible concrete, imho. As a first-timer you probably shouldn't spend money on the high-price paint brands until you're confident in your skills and techniques. Practice with a figure you don't mind 'wasting'. Last edited by Ozymandias13; 06-07-2019 at 09:10 AM.. |

Just got the mystery box. Total waste of money. Serves me right, though. I knew in my heart it would be more useless Greek shit, but I thought, "No, how much of that crap can they possibly have left after the last 5 iterations..."
apparently, the answer is even more than before. Grossly disappointed. Congrats to those who dodged the bullet.

What would be the best figure/accessory choices if I wanted to make a few Roman Soldiers with these:
