...so that when it's quoted, the sarcasm is lost? Sounds exactly like the system in place now!

Were we really spoiled by Marauder or does this one seem a bit like a cash grab? It just seems like no matter what you pay, the figures are at least 17.50.
When I jumped from the $395 level to the $695 for the Marauder KS, my figures dropped from $14 to $12, then factor in the stretch goals and it goes down to $8 per figure/accessory set. So for $695 I am getting 90 pieces in total from Marauder. Now in BFS at $500 I can get all the stretch goals (if reached) and even then its still $17.50 each. And thats only if ALL goals are reached, if not, then the cost obviously goes up. Or at $685 I can get $30 figures, plus 3 exclusives. So 33 pieces compared to 90. Someone please tell me how this is worth it at all? To be honest, besides a few Spartans, I just want the blanks for customs, which at $15 each are pretty ridiculous as well. Anyone else see where I am coming from here, or am I just a spoiled brat thanks to MJ. There's also a hundred behind the scenes things that go into pricing that we're not usually privy to. MJ's experience in actual manufacturing probably played a role in that. Whether either KS is worth the cost is up to the individual. To me, BFS is much more interesting as it's not just an army of nearly-identical figures in different colors. But that's exactly what a lot of people wanted, hence the success of MJ's campaign. So, to each their own. |

Boss Fight Studios isn't really a "toy company." They're a "design company" that's only now starting to do a little toy selling of their own on the side. They're not aiming to be the next Hasbro or Mattel, because companies like that are where they get most of their money from, and they would like to continue those relationships in the future.

Yeesh, there's another big pricing difference. If you pledge the wave 1 set of 4 for $115, you can add on the bronze and celestial exclusives for $105, totalling $220. If you buy the same items as a pledge package, it costs $245. Time to change my package...

There's also a big difference between what Marauders was doing and what Boss Fight is doing.
Marauders could afford to let some of the price go down because these figures were a side-project for him. Not his source of income. He could let the profit per figure slide a bit once he met his funding goal. For Boss Fight, this is their income, how they make their living, pay their bills, feed their families, etc... They are using this to fund this wave, the second wave and additional work going forward along with paying their bills. They've been around a few years, and haven't disappeared, so clearly they have been getting income despite not producing their own action figure line. This could potentially make them MORE money, but unless the BFS guys have been living homeless on the street collecting welfare without any of us knowing about it (possible but not likely) this line isn't really "their whole livelihood." Or put another way: If by some chance it didn't reach its' goal, BFS isn't likely to disappear as a company. |

So the essence of Kickstarter does seem to be lost for the most part in here, it's not about what you get but how you support them, easy peezy

Jedi my man, I'm the last person that should be saying this but...
You have WAY too much time on your hands.... Which isn't to say that your efforts aren't valuable to the community, so props for that. And it -is- funny that you've worked out the math more thoroughly than BFS apparently did. Be curious to see if they respond to the messages you're no doubt sending them. |

J/K. Yeah, a lot of folks are missing the overall point. I will admit though there are some holes in their contribution structure. |

I guess I just dont see the same value I did with Marauder. More bang for my buck, which is what a kickstarter should be in my opinion.
As for the FSS figures, correct me if Im wrong, but are they not a limited run? There are only so many made, where as these figures are going to be mass produced and sold regularly on a web store. So there is not much of a comparison there. I guess $17 would be fine, if you were buying 1, but if I am to buy in at the $700 level like I did with Marauder, I expect not only a discount but some extras as well. I dont see that here. We should be getting ALL stretch goals at the lower levels, but you have to pay $500 and then you don't even get the 2 pack or bronze ect. Instead of incentives, its the same value no matter what you put in, which to me isnt right.

MJ knew that, he may have given us WAY MORE then he should of, but he did this right. Look at the Elemental figures, those ladies will work with you to get you what you want. They have great rewards as well. BFS dropped the ball a bit here, didnt understand how it works, or simply figured because of their name recognition that they would get enough, without having to give.
