Well, I just bought all the ones that are currently out. Grunt, Stalker, Rock N Roll, and Snake Eyes. These are the best figures ever. I already pre-ordered Zap too. I'm opening mine. It's fun to have something BIG enough to actually play with again. My youngest daughter wants me to join her while she plays My Little Pony. Oh well, I must do my fatherly duty. Even if it is My Little Pony.

Is this line as dead as the other GI Joe lines?
I see GG pumping out Super Powers, Secret Wars, Batman the Animated Series...but seemingly no movement on the Joes. Probably due to their dumb idea of releasing the original 13 instead of Storm Shadow, Destro, Cobra Commander, etc. |

I have been out of the G.I. Joe loop for several years, and I am just now getting back into newer releases. I saw this, and I became excited. Then I saw the figure selection, and became the opposite of excited. If I can not build a 12" Cobra army then I do not care. Sorry, but none of my favorite G.I. Joe characters are in the first series, and unless I am missing something they forgot about Cobra.

What burns me up is that this line would have been 1000% better if they would have started with the 82-83 Swivel Arm Battle Grip versions of the characters. And given us at least Flash,Breaker, Steeler, And the J.U.M.P. jetpack.

They clearly don't have anyone who's a true Joe fan or expert consulting them. They have a ton of these retro jumbo lines...Star Wars, Secret Wars, Super Powers, Batman Animated, Alien. All they know how to do is take the original figure release list, go in approximate order of original release, upsize the molds and ship them to stores. For most lines that works but G.I. Joe is a big exception that requires a lot more nuance in making the right selections. They blew it and may be leading the line to an early death before figures that would actually sell get made.

I suspect GG saw how well their Star Wars line was doing due to nostalgia and followed suit. They started with the original figures like big head Han and farm boy Luke over more prized figures like Bespin Han (who they muffed) and Bespin Luke. Personally I like the straight arms O.G. 16 Joes and would have been all in for this line expect there was one difference between the Joes and SW. The price. One can argue the extra articulation cost more to produce but the Secret Wars figures are 5 POA and they go for more than the SW figures with Wolverine and Hobgoblin going for over 100? This line is really geared more towards nostalgia than "building a better figure" I don't think that the expectation was that one would play or set these guys up like one would a 4" figure. I really want that Hobgoblin but not at Sideshow prices. Anyway I think the anticipation of later figures like V2 SE, Duke, the awesomeness that is the 1984 line up etc would have built up momentum with the line but the high price killed it before it ever picked up that kind of momentum. At least that's how it panned out for me, and I'm a big 82 fan. But I'm not paying Sideshow prices for an upscaled scaled 82 reproduction. 72 bucks was stretching it for SW as it was. 50-60 bucks a pop and I'd own this entire line. 100+? No thanks.

Not necessarily. I picked up a SE from a GG dealer at Joecon (couldn't pass up getting Hama to sign it) and he told me that they were looking at a CC, Cobra Trooper (or officer? Can't recall), with SS as a possibility. My guess is that SS is a fringe possibility, since swivel arms would be expected by the fan base...
But again, this is just one fan's hearsay; no official GG word at this point.
