Man...you know, this stuff looks nice and all, but I cannot believe all of the love being levelled on these figures, simply because they didn't get released.
Everyone rants and raves about the Rise of COBRA having too many repaints and reissues of the same old characters...well, what about Night Force Falcon and Resolute Storm Shadow?? Repaints and rehashed characters that everyone lambastes when they come from the Rise of COBRA. To fans Night Falcon and Reso Storm Shadow have relevance, they aren't just offscreen repaints "just cause". Sure the movie line does have some excellent repaints and retools(and new figures), but the demand for Resolute Storm Shadow and Lt. Falcon has nothing to do with the complaints about the movie line. Had the cancelled wave been a wave like wave 12, I don't think anyone would cared as much. Quote:
If this wave had been released, the fans would have RAILED on it. But simply because it never hit retail, suddenly it's "the greatest thing ever!"...
Jungle Assault Storm Shadow might not come with the removable shirt that Resolute Storm Shadow had. We don't even know for sure if he will be in the multi-pack next year(yeah we can predict that he will but who knows). |

Hahah, well yeah, with that you are totally right Justin. People *really* want what they can't have.
But that full wave would have been (from looking at the cardback) Resolute SS, Resolute Destro, Resolute Roadblock, NF Flacon and Zap? (oops, editing to add Battle Damaged BAT) Of those, really only Falcon is the "WTF?" member. The others would all have been welcome additions (I think?) especially since these would have hit before the Attack on Cobra Island set was released and when Resolute fever was at an all time high. - NF Falcon - Battle Damaged B.A.T. - Resolute Storm Shadow - Zap - Alley-Viper I think that's it. Maybe Scrap Iron? Anyway...we got BAT, we got Alley-Viper, we got Zap. The Resolute Storm Shadow tooling is coming in Pursuit of COBRA, and a Resolute Storm Shadow is almost certainly coming in a multipack next year, so I just don't understand why Hasbro is so "stupid" because this assortment didn't get released, when we're getting most of these figures (or have already gotten them) in some form or function. I can understand the appeal of the vintage style packaging, but to me that always comes secondary to the toys themselves, and what folks REALLY wanted in this wave are all coming out, so seems to me, Hasbro covered all bases. Not to mention the fact that Hasbro obviously invested a ton of cash into this wave, doing tooling, paint apps, packaging samples, etc... so if they didn't hit retail, it's only because retailers didn't want them, which had nothing to do with Hasbro at all. It was a retailer decision. I don't understand the rage, but if there is rage, it should be directed at the right folks. Just my own opinion, of course. Justin |

Alley Viper and Scrap Iron were part of wave 15 I believe...along with Destro and Roadblock (one can assume Resolute versions). IIRC wave 16 was to have Resolute SE, Baroness, Scarlett, and that repaint of Red Star. Then again, I think I remember Scrap and Red being in the same wave. I do know that Alley Viper was to be part of wave 15. Wave 14 was:

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that the last wave of 25th stuff was axed, not because retail didn't want it, but because Hasbro wanted the pegs clear for ROC product. Hasbro made it very clear that all things GI Joe would be branded ROC from the movie forward, so releasing a new wave of 25th stuff that close to the movie didn't work within that strategy.

I just want that hood from SS. Otherwise, there's not much he offers that any of my other 3 SS's don't have.

It was actually publicly stated that it was the retailers that wanted the shelves cleared for movie-themed product, it wasn't a Hasbro decision.

I don't understand the rage, but if there is rage
If Resolute wasn't a hit with fans, if Night Force sucked, if the Alley Viper was single carded and readily available in prior waves, if Scrap Iron had the Airborne arms and other different parts to begin with, THEN I think no one would care for this wave. This wave had figures that fans wanted, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, it's undeniable that Resolute had the effect of seeing diehard fans who hated seeing multiple versions of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, actually DEMAND the Resolute figures of the sword brothers. |

Yeah but possibly minus the removable shirt, which fans would need to complete the Resolute look.No one knows that for sure. It would be cool, no doubt, and not too surprising, but no one has provided evidence that he will be in the set. For all we know it might just be 5 Joes with Destro and Baroness.
It's more convenient to buy figures individually than having to buy a 7 pack/multipack for one that you want. Case in point? The "fixed" Viper that was only available in a 5 pack and in the HOH subline.Yes if. To be honest the only post full of rage I see in the most recent pages within this thread is your's. Sure CrimsonGuard101 posted a rant but that's not really surprising(no offense CG101). I agree with all of this |
