I bought his book like this for his star wars work from about 15 or so years ago. I had no idea who he was back then just loved the art work and it was star wars. I had to get a copy more so since it'll be signed by him! Thanks for posting about this I wouldn't of known other wise.

I'm still interested in this and all... but 24 pages? Surely Dorman has more than 24 pieces of art to share with us? And 6x9? This is smaller than a comic book and roughly the same dimensions. I'd be more likely to buy this if it were bigger size, and I'd happily pay more. He should kickstart a larger hardcover edition...

It was a small issue a while back because he would ask the owner of the art for a scan so that he can keep a record of his art in his archives. Most collectors were more than happy to share the art with their creator. However, some were upset because they later found out that he was selling those scans as prints. After that, most have not provided further scans for him. Anything else would most likely have to come from Hasbro's archives. |

Done and done. Coolest piece of GI JOE news I have heard since Retaliation wave 3.5 and 4 coming out.
But HooveRtron you have a very valid point. I would have thought longer on purchasing this. I am also going to be offended as shit if its comic book flimsy.

I'm assuming the reason that it is not bigger is because he doesn't have much more than that. When he submitted his art to Hasbro, the art usually was not returned. Most, if not all, of what he has is because collectors that own the pieces gave him high res scans of their art.

What dr300zxtt said is true. Yes he did ask for high-res scans of his character presentation art from collectors who own his artwork. They were provided, and Dorman then sold them as prints without revealing his intent. Not cool.
Personally, I like some pieces of his art. But there were certainly other artists who created better and just as nice 'Joe presentation art. Last edited by j_t_d; 08-15-2013 at 11:09 PM.. |
