While I realize that this property is not the Joe I want it to be, the thing that makes me really sad about the whole deal is that if this thing tanks, this is what the general public will percieve Joe as for the next 25 years. You can't un-ring that bell once you've it's rung...look at the new SW trilogy as proof. A commercial success, and profitable to be sure, but despised by almost anyone with fond memories of the original trilogy. That kind of taint doesn't wash off...ever.

This review is entirely too biased to take seriously, and there's no way to validate anything the reviewer says prior to seeing the movie.
The rest of the reinventions aren't entirely preposterous and do deserve a look-see. Snake-Eyes' origin sounds a little 'Bloodsport'ish to me, however no one will doubt the veracity of Korean martial arts if the watch 'Remo Williams-The Adventure Begins'. ;) |

Don't you guys realize the aholes at hasbro are reading this thread and laughing their as off at us while counting the wads of cash we put in their pockets?

Revealed later I believe. The earlier scripts had him seen in the very beginning, but this, a later script, hasn't even mentioned him but once, and not even by name(The Doctor). The movie Prequel comic with Duke hinted that something went wrong on a covert ops mission.
He's seen an early cut and enjoyed it. From what I've read about him, he doesn't seem too big on following continuity, so long as the media he is watching or reading is good. The script sounds like a kid wrote it......"Rugged handsome Duke" "The Rise Of Cobra gunship" This is dumb....bring on resolute..... |

Fans seem to be inherent hypocrites. We've made it abundantly clear that our bark (complaining) is worse than our bite (actually not buying stuff). I still maintain that a good three-quarters of the "hate" for the Star Wars prequels is purely "bandwagon haters" who don't want to seem like the uncool kid that actually admits to liking them (or at least not thinking they're the greatest cinematic abortions of all time). Then they go out and buy all the toys anyway. |

This person's opinion made front page news here?! I thought Hiss Tank was supposed to be about news?!
I know a few of us here that have read the script and could have done a better job, and Hiss Tank could have had their own "official review." The script reads much better than this "review." Besides, from the trailer, and other news, it's pretty obvious that there have been changes to the script.

Larry Hama's never been a "BS" kind of guy. If he hated the movie, he'd have found a way to express it within the bounds of any Non-Disclosure Agreements he's signed. It's not hard to make a disapproving statement that's not overly harsh ("Well, it's not the direction I would have gone in, but it's trying something different and new," or a neutral statement ("You know what? It's not important if I like the movie or not, what's important is that it connects with the fans"). The fact of the matter is he's simply not as attached to G.I. Joe as some of us are. For us it's a hobby, for him it's a job. Beyond all that, any non-disclosure-agreement that says "You cannot express a negative opinion about this work" would pretty quickly get tossed out of any US court as a violation of First Amendment rights. And of course lastly: If the Hama-verse is remotely as critical to the commercial success of the overall Joe mythos as so many people seem to think, then Hama should be able to say or do whatever he wants because Hasbro will most assuredly go completely bankrupt without him, because all us crazy fans would riot in the streets if he were blacklisted from working on Joe projects, right?
