I think my real big problem with this script (other than them killing Cover Girl-- grrr) is the fact that Duke knows everybody. Six billion people in the world, and Duke was engaged to the Baroness, who is the brother of Cobra Commander, who used to be Duke's best friend? C'mon, even Charles Dickens wouldn't have used this much coincidence.

Wow.. Epic Suck My B**LS
I don't even know if I can stomach to watch this in the theaters. I might not want to let other people see me crying.

Hey guys,
Paul here from Ideology of Madness. I totally want to let everyone know that we're big G.I. Joe fans at IoM, especially myself. I even bought that stupid Street Fighter toys from back in the 1990's just because they looked like Joes. Part 2 goes up later on today (check in around noon) at Ideology of Madness - If we geek about it, we speak about it! - you'll see our final thoughts! Even though I didn't write the review, I'm mostly positive on it, with some definite issues. Still, I'll be there for a midnight showing...just because, well...it's G.I. Joe! One thing I'll say - reading the review put me in the mood to find some Joe stuff online, which is how I came across H.I.S.S.Tank - it's already added as a favorite! Thanks guys for the feedback! Don't be afraid to post on our site too - we love feedback! |

Did I miss the part where Hasbro and Paramount corporate ninjas are going to break into the house of everyone that owns any Joe product from the last 25 years, steal all of it and burn it, then refuse to admit that such products/stories/whatever ever existed?
History isn't getting "destroyed" in any way, shape or form. We'll still have our old Joes, our old comics, and our old toons (most of the latter two getting fresh re-releases in and around the "movie time" period). We can continue to enjoy them for the rest of our lives, if we choose. The arrival of something new doesn't take away from what's come before. |

The reviewer's bias is so obvious it oozes off my monitor screen. I guess posting this is somehow beneficial and great for adding to the site's post count or something, but this was a very old, very tired subject prior to this latest blatant nerd anger stoker. I can certainly understand why many have pointed out the negativity of the site lately, and why some have moved on.
I just love how many of these "Joe fans" have decided the movie will suck hard before even viewing anything more than an outdated script and a teaser trailer, and have commited not to watch it at all or "only when it comes out on dvd." And I love how they are so sure it will kill the line. I guess history often does repeat itself. I believe there was a similar sentiment about another major Hasbro franchise about 2 years ago or so, and yeah, that line is a rotting corpse, huh? |

Ohhhh... I'm not sure I want to go see this steaming pile of TURD at all!!!
My greatest fear has already been realized in the following sentence: "Ripcord has a Jar Jar Binks moment when he leaps out of the vehicle and stumbles around in the super suit, even being hit by a car at one moment and uttering “Excusem moi”." Ohhhh in the words of Jar Jar: "Meesa No Tink So". I thought they changed Rip Cords character to be a relevant GI Joe and modernize him and that a wayans bro was diversifying his resume with some action-sequence acting (like Jamie Foxx going from Booty Call to Ray). Unfortunately, the only reason they took a Wayans bro appears to be because Rip Cord is the Comic Relief of the group. A unintelligent BAFFOON who has JAR JAR moments. And they kill off Cover Girl before allowing her character to do anything significant. For those who say "all you Nay-Sayers need to wait till the movie comes out before passing judgement". I ask you your thoughts on the Cobra Commander mask. 90+% of you seem to say "hard to defend that". Now, let's hear you try to defend this Cleveland Steamer right in the face of the fans! Good luck!

Wow...so much hate! It's not THAT bad of a script, really. Wait till part 2 of the review posts later today. Sure, some stuff is pretty stupid, but I dig how much it actually borrows from the comic storylines, especially the Devil's Due run, which seems to be a heavy influence.
