I just wish they would show these figures with their gear.

i'm goona guess they'll be somewhere $40-50 ($8x7 is 56, but they usually go a bit cheaper for the multipacks)
if i was a bettin' man i'd say they'll be $45 hope they do a good job on the gear, since the gear makes the man on a lot of these... (Alley Viper, Range Viper, Hit & Run...)

I am totally impressed with the consolation prize Hasbro has offered us. We get all new characters, more than a few of which we have all been asking about for a while. Once we see the accessories I think I will be even more anxious to get my hands on them. Its a nice gesture. Hasbro knows that we, the collector's they had so much in mind when designing the movie stuff (???), are going to be pretty much left out when those movie items dominate the line for the next year.
They are in boxed sets because Hasbro does not want to dedicate time, resources and retail shelf space to the Modern Era ARAH line by releasing 2 or 3 more waves of carded figures. These are obviously the figures they were working on for future single carded waves, comics pack, and vehicles. I highly doubt we will see the Starto-Viper and Outback vehicle sets in those particular incarnations. The movie is their primary focus. I can see how it makes good business sense... I understand. When you have a big budget movie coming out you push the stuff that relates to the movie. You include huge unrealistic projectile launching weapons that entice children. And you work cross-promotion between the movie and the merchandising. That doesn't however mean I have to like it. The audio from the Hasbro guys at Toy Fair almost had me wanting to think about collecting movie figures. But then I looked over the images of the wave 1 and 2 movie figures carefully and I just can't say I really want them. My love for the 25th line is based on my love for the original 3.75 Joes. I don't want "movie versions" of classic characters that we have to imagine were somewhere off-screen in the movie. I want 25th versions of classic characters. I hope we will see more work on the 25th line in the future but from what I can tell now these last two 7 packs are all we have for quite some time. It will all depend on how the movie turns out I suppose. It gives me time to organize my collection, catch up for a while, and maybe save up for a PDD. |

Hasbro knows what they are doing? They released these not only to placate the fans but more importantly because they already had these figures lined up so why not make money on them. I am sure Hasbro also realizes there will be a split on the fans that love the fact that these are 7 packs and the ones that wished they were single carded.
Because of this, I am sure they will keep the price point at $35-40. They want to make money, but over $50 would just be greedy. As an MOC guy you kind of want the single cards, but really after getting 60+ single cards I am kind of running out of room so I don't mind these, especially if the packaging is nice. |

My guess is that these will be slightly more than the Xtreme condition sets were. I think $40-$50 is probably where they will sell these at and I am perfectly fine with that price (still only $7 a figure even at $50)..

I was hoping they'd sell for the same price as the Extreme Conditions sets. I was able to order both off eBay for just $27 each.
