Harry Potter is mostly Ticket sales and some NON toy related stuff, but it does take money away from other ventures.

we're talking about kids, not adult collectors who care about scale and details

MU has more pegs at my walmart now that Joes ever have.

Once the movie comes out, that will start the selling point, BUT that ain't until August. By then, ADULT collectors will have already picked over the good stuff clogging the pegs with peg warmers. Also, being that this is a movie line with Hasbro and retailers banking on it, I think there will be plenty of toys for everyone. |

Star Trek and Terminator toys have hurt themselves being a crappy line altogether. Terminator has what, 2 scales running concurrently side by side? Very confusing to kids.
Star Trek isn't really a kid genre. There's really not much "play" value. The ship explores and occasionally fights and loses a couple red shirts. Maybe this movie is different, but the previous movie lines show it doesn't sell. It looks like they switched to 3 3/4 scale in hopes to be able to move it this time. I guess we all just have to sit back and wait to see what happens. But I will say this, if the movie breaks the box office a couple of weeks and the toy line sells out numerously, I will post that I was wrong all this time. |

I think Playmates made the main line 3-3/4" scale to take on Hasbro's Star Wars figures. Same scale, same style of full articulation(aside from the females). Either way, I think G.I. Joe toy sales will outsell Star Trek and Terminator. I don't think they will top Transformers, but I imagine by the end of the year, G.I. Joe movie, TF Movie, and Star Wars will perform best for Hasbro's action figure brands. |

Playmates killed themselves when they did the 1701 limited figures. It pissed off ALL of their fan base which in turn, boycotted the line and began dumping their collections at toy shows and then later, ebay.
The part that really set off the firestorm was when playmates RE-released the same exact figures but in a NON limited box set causing those who spent a premium (I sold my 1701 Tashia Yar I found for a MIMB Vintage Imperial Shuttle, a crapload of MIB mini rigs, a bunch of rare beanie babies which at the time were fetching $50-75). How do you think those guys who paid those prices felt thinking they had something truly rare in their collections? |

Anyways, back on topic, the one thing that I see shelfwarming is the PIT. I haven't seen it up close or anything, so maybe my opinion will change once I see it. Who knows. |

I have this vehicle its a must have for this line with out a doubt. However sticker assembly took about six hours. Definetly not a complaint. wish it had more storage compartments for weapons.
