YES that new (lets call it the Night Grackel cause it is not big enough to be a raven or anything larger) and the orignal true blood Night Raven look more like the Firefox design jet to me than the SR71. You don't have a huge black painted jet flying in broad daylight rescuing Serpentor being a supersonic high altitude spyplane, cobra did not need to spy on anything they just attacked what ever the hell they wanted and whenever they just went somewhere. The Night Ravens were dogfighters, bombers, straffers, and troops transports LOL they did it all in the Joe cartoons, not just fly over the Soviet Union take a 2min photo and fly home!
Now Firefox was a different story, but I bet there is not many who care to even know what firefox was its a pretty boring show up until he gets closer to stealing the Firefox so if you made to the end you got to see a pretty cool dogfight and landing on ice which even the new joe movie....er nvm I won't go there... Last thing... The H2 looks ghetto. H2's suck.

Is it me or does the COBRA SUV look nearly identical to Jackhammer from MASK? Not that I'm complaining, I like it.
I actually like the new, blockier Raven. |

But you're telling me, excluding the new head and helmet, you'd rather have this figure: ....than this one?! Considering Hasbro's desire to maximize the use of its existing parts, why didn't they use Swamp Zartan's upper arms and upper legs? We've seen them use Flash's mold umpteen billion times on different figures. But why not get some more "bang for their buck," get some additional use out of some Zartan parts, and get something a little closer to the original figure? It doesn't make much business sense to rely on one set of parts for multiple figures, when you've got much better parts just lying fallow. It's a foolish way to allocate your resources! I'm not complaining about the paint choices, mind you. I'm just complaining about the choice of parts. Sorry, but I still think Hasbro made some piss-poor decisions on the Motor Viper's parts. |

The SR-71 was initially Designed as the A-12 and YF-12 Interceptor. The M-21 variant of the A-12 carried a D-21 drone (which inspired the Night Ravens configuration). Firefox looked completely different than the og raven. The new raven has more faceted design like Firefox. Also an aircraft designed like a NR would be an interceptor and a strike aircraft not much o ACM aircraft. No wing area for dogfighting.

The biggest problem people have is that it isn't the original mold. Which makes no sense whatsoever.
It's a decent jet but I can also see steps back, and this isn't an issue with Hasbro as it is with the movie designers. This is a boxier design, not sleek, and certainly not stealthy. This surprises me more as the movie takes place in the future, and the joe gunship that Snake Eyes jumped out of in the trailer looks stealthier than this thing. So again, my issues are with the design itself, not so much the toy. The toy doesn't have a huge canopy that gives away that it is out of scale with the figure. The only dead ringer for that is the picture showing the figure itself standing atop it. So the main thing I was worried about(unproportionate parts) didn't surface here. The wings don't like unproportionately small to the body, so I am very glad that this toy, as gimmicked out as it is, did not turn out like the Thunderwing. Quote:
You know this is dumb...if that Raven had come out in the 25th line and didnt have the movie logo on it most of you would bite at it, but because it belongs to a movie its crap...
What we have here are fans that wanted the classic Raven released, and fans who appreciate the movie version. Nothing wrong with either, but to pass off the original as the movie version would make the toy inaccurate, as the movie design, as evidenced by the movie toy, is far different from the original. |

Yours is better Mog, but honestly Motor-Viper looks OK. Not perfect, but OK.

That raven looks to be the same size as the conquest and Ratt so the price wil be closer to $30.....great deal to me....

But if it was the OG one it would cost almost $100 today....I like this update and will own one....

I can't articulate what disappoints me about the Night Raven, i'd just hoped for something a little different.

Night raven is WAYYYYY out of scale. Too small, it's a fail for me.

Well, I'm easy to please when it comes to these sorts of things. I will definitely be getting the Night Raven and the Scarab.
I guess they scaled down the Raven so it would fit in a Rattler-sized box. It looks to be about the size of a Rattler, maybe a little longer. I'm not disappointed it is smaller...I accept it. I was anticipating a kitbashed old mold, but this will definitely fit in with my COBRA stuff. I also love the Strato-Viper! I think the Motor-Viper is a sure sign that a Stun will be coming down the road sooner or later. |

They proved that they could incorporate those well into previous stuff like the thunderwing jet and nac, but here they stuck them into the jet intakes??
