Night Raven looks okay. Guess Hasbro has some left over missle launchers from the 2nd SW Slave I. Remember it was done in Jango colors and then in Boba colors. Both sported a missle launcher that popped out of the fuselage.
Maybe a little retooling to boot.

Simply put I think Hasbro is really trying to please us with the Night Raven. The original is too large for a re-release do to production costs, shipping and retailer self space. The same reasons we can't get a Flagg or Terror Drome. They listened to our want for this product and did their best to give us something reminiscent to the original and within their production budget.
I think it looks great and I appreciate the nod from Hasbro on this one. While the night Raven WAS large, the pod, and a second seat could have been included with this version for relatively little cost, even if both were shrunken in size like the plane has been. Even if they'd just included the pod, I'd have been more than happy. A single seat cockpit I can KINDA live with, but that combined with the lack or pod does it for me. Not to even mention the lack of streamlining that wouldn't have cost a cent. |

Just how big was the old Night Raven? I know it's hard to really say, but judging by the picture I would say that this one is close to 25 inches in length.

They all look pretty good, so far the movie line has been more hit than miss IMO, although I do think the Moto Viper's vest makes him looks a little chunky, still cool though.
Here's some Night Raven comparison pics, just because. |

I appreciate the nod, but given they just put out the AT-TE, BMF, and are planning a Juggernaught, I doubt that cost is really what's holding them back.

I'm leaning towards the logic that the Night Raven was made smaller to keep the production cost lower. The design itself is not bad. If we get a jet the same scale as the old one or like the Elite Force F-18 or F-16 then the price might be 10-20% higher. And with the economy the way it is, every manufacturer will try to keep costs down.
As far as the Night Raven not flying....anything will fly if you put enough thrust to lift it. Will it have a controllable flight? It might...it has control surfaces (tail, wing, and canards). Will it be an efficient flying machine as maneuverable as today's jet fighters? Not it won't.

Probably launches missiles. I bet the two round spots on the grill are missiles.
